Re: Dayton Game Thread

I think that 4% probability of a Dukes win is a little high.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

Got to stay on this negative roll. Let's leave no doubt in the minds of Harper, and the administration.

It's all in Ferry's incapable hands.

When you're constipated, an enema can work wonders. Grease up the Fleet's Harper!

Re: Dayton Game Thread

Gonna keep saying it - email Mr. Harper and let him know we need a new coach and who we like that is out there.  It's the first part he needs to accept - not worried about  him finding someone...really.  My concern is he will keep him on another year.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

FAM, if Mr. Harper doesn't act as soon as the season ends then what would really be necessary would be an all-out offensive aimed at President Gormley begging him to nuke everything but Dan Burt and the WBB program. We need a Dan Burt for the MBB program. I can't say enough how good a coach he is or how much I wish we could lock him in for the rest of his career.

Duq81, I always say, keep your friends close and your enemas closer.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

ElDuque, You are correct.  Wouldn't it be just 1 year they would have to buy out?  Yes, we can't go one more year with Ferry.  We would then need to start a campaign to the President who from all appearances, understands how a strong sports program will increase Duquesne's opportunities in a number of areas stated last week.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

The team and the announcers are embarrassing the hell out of DU basketball.  Hopefully the President is watching and feels a loss of pride in our University.  As long as the annoouncers don't start "playing" the they are so young card (Abrahamson - awh, not young - Castro - D. Lewis hmm) the truth will be seen.  As long as the announcers don't hammer oh...he is building a program (year 5??) the truth shall be seen!!!  I love how frank these annoucners are so far.  We haven't had this all year.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

FAM the President is sitting directly behind the bench. 😱😱😱. But I agree the announcers have been tough but yet the mantra of our youth and Ferry's coaching ability go on and on.

Ray asked Jarrett a question and it sounded like he woke Jarrett up from a deep sleep.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

I am so upset I couldn't even spell the word announcer!!!  I worry what the heck those folks are thinking behind the bench.  Sure hope there are a lot of Dayton fans giving the team some good comments.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

Probably will be the worst loss, to date, of the season.
They lost to KY at KY 93-59.
Ferry should go but Harper should analysis what ails the program.
Recruiting budget?  Facilities? Assistant salaries? Attitude of the administration
and board of directors?  Values? Academics? All of these?
No point firing one coach, eating part of his contract only to hire another coach who
is doomed before he even starts.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

Worse loss 90-53.
St Louis away next up--no gimme--the losing streak could continue
One more loss guarantees another regular season losing record.
Hey, building a program; young team; young players intimidated by crowd;
players weren't patient; no rhythm established by guards; no one talked on
defense; announcers weren't supportive enough; President sat behind team
and jinxed them; needed cheerleaders; should have used old style road uniforms;
not enough fans traveled to game but not coaches fault, never coaches fault.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

Also, players drank bottled water at DU not tap water because of water advisory; screwed up their
routine which caused them to be out of sync.

Save yourself the aggravation my friend because it's as simple as this:  no sponsorships, no fannies and no one cares in Pgh.

Re: Dayton Game Thread

We got clobbered in every facet of the game:
37 field goals on 59% shooting vs. 20 on 36%
11 threes on 46% vs. 6 on 29%
40 rebounds vs. 26
30 assists vs. 6
13 turnovers vs. 16
27 points off turnover vs. 10
48 points in the paint vs. 20
35 bench points vs. 23
20 second chance points vs. 10

Mike Lewis, 0 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound. The four regular guards (Smith, Lewis, Blackman, Castro) played a combined 100 minutes, with 20 points, 21 missed shots, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 turnovers.
Three post players (Saunders, Robinson, Lewis) combined for 35 minutes, 7 points, 14 rebounds. Abrahamson played 16 minutes though. He gave us 3 points and 0 rebounds.
Littleson, Taylor and Haus combined for 14 minutes, 0 points, 2 turnovers.
I-Mike and James split the wing with 35 minutes  and 23 points.

Next loss will guarantee a losing season, Ferry's fourth in five years. I'd guess six losses among the next seven games, plus an elimination loss in the A-10 Tournament. So the tournament will go on in our backyard without us.

Bricks, anyone?

Re: Dayton Game Thread

Today you saw a very good D1 well coached team play a weak team with no coach.  The collective basketball IQ on the Dukes is less than most high school teams.  There is no, none, nada, zip visible signs of coaching on this team. This has been a trademark of all Ferry teams for the last 5 years. Can anyone really argue that point?. This team still has no clue how, or desire, to play defense, and has no structure to their offense.  The talent that Ferry has recruited is horrible.  Yes I have taken off the "Beer Goggles" and looked at this team for what it is. Except for a couple players they are not A10 quality players. Yes better coaching would help them grow and play defense but our guys are weak and lack the skills to play at this level.  Ferry has taken this team to the next level for sure, just in the wrong direction. This program is a dumpster fire, and a joke around the League.  I am done wasting time with this program.
