Offline See the ending of last's night game again. Go Dukes! Last edited by CLK (2/15/2013 6:54 am) Offline Fast Forward — ESPN, March 18, 2013: Offline What strikes me about this game here is this: Duquesne won, broke an 11-game losing streak, won on the road against a good team, and we have - what? - five or six posters on this site. No one else cares. That's the sign of a program that is irrelevant. No one else cares. That's the sign of a program that is irrelevant. Some of us read and post only when we have something to say, first that is a hard place to play in. I went ona road trip by bus with Ron Mulah (sp) back when Wayne Smith was our forward, DAP coaching. Offline Ritters, I think there are many out there who are very pleased about this win, they just don't post, but I wanted to add to the thread by congratulating the Dukes! I spoke with a fellow alum and season ticket holder the other day and he said the one encouraging thing is that this team has fought hard, competed and was in most games throughout with only 1 or 2 exceptions; with a talent level that we all know needs improved. That tells me a couple of things, the character of the kids (they compete) and the fortitude and coaching qualities of this staff - which are encouraging in my view. Keep playing hard and good things eventually happen, especially if the talent level (can I say recruiting again) starts to match up with the effort. GO DUKES, DE-Horn the Rams!!!! Offline "However, this team has played to the level of its competition all season, and it did again Thursday night in its worst loss yet. The Dukes (8-16, 1-9) are recognized as the A-10's worst team." Last edited by FAM (2/15/2013 9:30 am) Offline Good stuff. We deserved a nice w after a 57 day drought. Offline CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DUKES AND COACH JIM FERRY AND STAFF! Great win. There will be more. Looking forward to each one of them and to next year. Hoping to counter Mr. Negative here, just a bit! Offline Oh Yee of Little Faith! :-) Offline Yawn. Not to rain on the parade or urinate in the Kelloggs breakfast food, but "So What?" This program is dead man walking as far as mattering in the way most of us want it to matter. That ship sailed with the idiocy last spring. In three years we are going to be a bad team in a one bid conference, and even then we won't win the stupid thing! Please sir, go back on your medication, you are far too depressing in your present state of mind. Get Help! Offline Just checked the Fordham board. They are asking why an average coach like Jim Ferry can get his team to win an A-10 road game and Fordham can't? Go Duquesne, get out of the basement, beat URI! Offline Okay - so there lies the problem or question - Is Jim Ferry an average coach - obviously they think he is - and I don't know - and if he is we will continue on the same path - I am enjoying the win Offline What strikes me about this game here is this: Duquesne won, broke an 11-game losing streak, won on the road against a good team, and we have - what? - five or six posters on this site. That would be a nice step in the right direction. Offline That does it , I will stop giving a million a year to Duquesne, they barely won at Temple, lol Offline Thanks for jinxing us. Hey duq81 .... Jinx THIS!!! Offline WOW Offline Here's another slap in the face to this program. The Post-Gazette simply took the game story from the Phila. Enquirer, its sister paper, and it was all about Temple with no Duquesne quotes. Nice. The P-G doesn't even think the program worthy of better treatment. Well, maybe it's just a dream, but if anyone deserves a miracle, it's Duquesne's long-suffering fans. Let's fight to the finish. Go Iron Dukes!!!
Good stuff. Let's get the Rams and keep it going.

Dukes looked like jr high kids against Chaneys Owls, they were tall and thick, we lost by 20 plus, on the long ride back to Pgh all on bus agreed we may never win there, now we did, hats off to Ferry and his kids, Marhold and Winters played lights out.

This from a Philly Paper on Temple losing to Duquesne. Yes, Temple overlooked Duquesne. Why shouldn't they - poor team - their place - they are good. However, Q played well as did Marhold and others. On any given day...
This is an Excellent Article from Philly on the Best and Worst of the Game

I used to hope we could at least be a Xavier or a Temple and matter in our little A-10, but we blew that chance and soon we'll be Manhattan or Siena, and somehow, we will still manage to miss the Big Dance. Of course even if we make it the A 10 will be providing a fourteenth or fifteenth seed as a sacrificial lamb to the ACC runner up and it won't matter.
In three years Jim Ferry will be Scott Edgar and some of you will be lining up to support the next coach and his "vision to return Duquesne to its.................yadda yadda yadda.

Not true at all...I see 2,000+ fans at every home game that care. Sadly, most of them don't fit the "blogger demographic". The fact is that our Dukes played a very good game uder extremely difficult circumstances and took home a road win last night. I personally can't remember a game in recent memory that had that much drama (especially one that we were able to win). Gives some of us a lot of hope for the future.
