Is DU Basketball at the Crossroads of Dissolving?

The topic of delusion posted by ElDuque was excellent.  So let us take this one more step.  First, I challenge anyone, including the President and AD of Duquesne to find a coach who was hired on a 10 year plan?  It is so ridiculous it is scary - thus ElD's delusion thread.  Government officials...senators, presidents,  mayors,  anyone in office is given four years and expected to make important life-changing decisions.

Here are points/questions...we do not yet know the answers!
1.  I believe we can all agree, even those who still support Ferry which is their right, do you think he told the folks who hired him that it will take him 10 years to turn a "program around" which are his words...when he was hired after a winning coach/program.
2.  The program is WORSE now then when Ferry was hired.  Do the President and AD actually realize this or are they blinded by either no logic or monetary issues?
3.   With attendance probably under 500 per game...(other than when they give tickets away to Catholic Elementary Schools to get the seats filled,) does Mr. Harper realize how this trend will be even worse next year as Ferry has proven he can't win, he can not endear himself to the public, he throws kids under the bus and turns folks off.  We will losE players and will continue to get poor ones.
4.  The Program Can't turn around now and it is because of Ferry.  Mr. Harper/Mr. President, if you don't get a coach at the end of this year just dissolve the men's program.  Put money into the women's program.  Ferry is severely hurting Duquesne Basketball.  Look at the record, the attendance, the lack of money given.
5.  Sorry...but two years ago I listed his record at LIU and stated how many years it took him to win and that we would all be in trouble.  If you go back you can find that post.  My point??? No, not that I can predict things because it would be great If I was good at picking lottery numbers.  It was that I couldn't believe then that no one used his previous record to see that if he was successful, we would be destroyed by then.  He can't get there in the A10.
6.   As Pitt Football can't get good assistant coaches for their football team, who in the heck would want to come here to work with Ferry?  Since it appears he gets out coached by most folks no "effective" assistant will be coming to teach defense.

7. MOST importantly, and this is the million dollar question.  Will they let Ferry go at the end of this year.  Sometimes folks don't look long term.  Will there be a cost to letting him go?  Yes.  But Mr. Harper, and Mr. President, it will be a greater cost - a long term cost - to keeping him.  The program will IMPLODE.

FAM. (ANY CHANCE OF A REPORTER DOING A STORY ON FAILURE OF THE PROGRAM?)

You can't have a women's program without a men's program. Where will they play?

Recruit local players, I know they arent the best in the country, but who we have now that is.  Get 1-2 local stars, start local, move regional, go national.  Promise them starting jobs as freshman, "find" their parents a new car or house.  Get a nice PG who can handle and shoot 3s and FTs, and a big guy who isnt SAWFT and can rebound.  DU has some young talent, but its just playing street ball now.  No leadership, those guys will transfer, and we'll be back to zero again.

But you need the school to invest more.  If I lived in the 412/724 area, and didnt go to DU, I wouldnt know they had a team.  Heck, I would bet many DU grads dont know they still have a team.

Bobby Mo can't win with local guys. Any local worth a damn is going to Pitt, or leaving town. We need a coach who can get the best out of what we have now.

Re: Is DU Basketball at the Crossroads of Dissolving?

I disagree with the last part of your post.  We don't have enough talent here to win at this time.  There is some talent in I. Mike and Lewis II, but that is far too thin to win at this level.  The players we do have may have some qualities of D-1 players,  but sorely lack the basketball IQ to play at this level.  When you are still making the same mistakes on defense at this point in the season, or in some cases after two years playing at this level, I don't know if there is any hope.   I see every team run the same pick and roll with the screener slipping the screen and cutting to the hoop for an easy layup.  If we can't defend something so simple then I believe some of these guys just cannot understand the fundamentals of playing defense at this level.
