Offline I wonder what the mood around here would be at the end of the 21/22 season if Ferry is hired by WVU to take Huggins place (retired) after leading the Dukes to back to back NCAA bids? We'll be analyzing our new coach, Kevin Stallings, just stolen from Pitt. Pitt is so mad about it that they tell us that if we want to continue the series, all games must be played at Palumbo for the next 5 years. How about Suzie as our next men's coach? Pitt is wishing they had hired Dan. Offline Speaking of Suzie, she does not want to play Burt next year. If that should happen, then the Press should howl. And, yes, she is a better coach than Ferry. Offline I'm not sure what it takes, maybe a sammich, a cold beer, or a little cash, but judging from the Zeise column the press can be bought pretty easily. So you're not likely to see a commotion if Suzie ducks the Dukes. Offline How about Suzie as our next men's coach? Pitt is wishing they had hired Dan. Durkin's still available. I liked him, BTW. Colleary just never supported the guy. Offline I hope Burt never leaves. Best basketball coach in Pittsburgh now that Jamie's gone. dan said he hopes to retire a duke when he was extended. Offline When Pitt finally gets around to hiring a new AD and he comes to grips with the horrific contract he's stuck with in Stallings Susie will be next unless the football program blows up again. She is being paid pretty well and hasn't had the results expected. Since I don't have a problem rooting for Pitt in football, that's a win win for me. Narduzzi actually seems to have a clue, so he might keep the fans distracted for a while. Offline Ironduke81, WEB does not post much any more, but I do hear from him from time to time. We had our acrimonious differences with the firing of Ron back when he was a student at DU (and I was a passionate hot head about Ron getting fired), but he & I now have good mature private conversations about DU. He is a good guy, and I believe I can safely say he is as frustrated as all of us with the current state of DU hoops. I trust your judgement in saying WEB is a good guy, but he was very hard on Ron and mistakenly very high on Ferry when there was no hard evidence that he was the " next level" coach Amodio claimed him to be. Last edited by Westender (2/17/2017 5:42 pm) Offline Have 'em watch the end of the St. Louis game, for one. Or one of the early season home cupcake games. Or have them watch the end of the Canisius game. Smalltime Jim says in his post game presser that he was trying to get a timeout, but the video shows that he did no such thing and was signaling/ waving his team to get back on defense. My personal favorite this year. I can't ever understand a supposed Duquesne alum rooting for Pitt in any sport; eat __it Pitt! I root for anyone who plays Pitt and really enjoy seeing them lose!!! Since we don't play football, I have to follow someone. I was watching Pitt football before I came to Duquesne. I mean, the alternatives aren't any better. Penn St.? Used to like them. Not so much after what they allowed to go on up there, and the fan reaction to it all. The Hoopies? Liked them when they were still playing an eastern schedule, but it's like they don't exist anymore playing all those teams from the middle of nowhere. I hate Notre Dame, and despise Michigan almost as much as I hate Villanova, who I hate more than Pitt. Offline This is my feeling as well. I have always felt that Zeis is a lazy reporter, and also I'm sure the only Dukes game he saw this year was the Pitt game. I sent him an email and he responded in great detail. I would not call him lazy. He cares and is very knowledgeable about the program, its sad history and the inner politics. It was refreshing that he wasn't one of those 22 year-olds fresh out of college, who get stuck with the Dukes beat before moving on to bigger things, (the Pittsburgh sports equivalent of starting with "obituaries"). He cited talking with Ron recently and he even brought up a few items that I was told in my "confidential" chat with Harper last year. Offline He didn't research the facts. He was wrong on every count, either because he misrepresented them or used them incorrectly. Talk about so-called alternative facts. He was clearly fed the info by someone, and given Ferry's documented flirtation with falsified info, I'd say it was Smalltime Jim himself. Offline He didn't research the facts. Based on our exchange, I believe he cares about, and knows the situation. He is no Ferry apologist and he actually spoke very highly of Ron. Also, he cited some facts that I was told in confidence last year. I believe him. Last edited by Tejas_Duke (2/18/2017 11:06 am) Offline IT WILL BE ABOUT THE MONEY! Unless they want to see the program die altogether out of hatred for Duquesne.

Sorry my good friend CLK I agree with Westender Web was brutal, vicious and unrelenting on Ron. Secondly, Web had a huge boy crush on Ferry. As you will note I am not a constant basher of Ferry. I believe the problem lies much deeper. Can he coach D ? NO AAU offense Yes but from day one I guaranteed he would not succeed in the A-10. Finally, Ron was the entire package. Winner, recruiter, great with local media & fans. My major problem with Ferry is the constant excuses and blame game towards Ron. In fact never heard Ron complain about Danny Née. NEVER. In conclusion thanks to the Quinipiac clown & Chuck for the 300 ticket holders. Sunday sunny 65 🏌🏌🏌🏌

Boy, the lies to the press really piled up this year.

Re: PG Zeize Article
Today I talked to some folks who are pretty competent and also went back and reviewed a lot of facts and research...a lot of it here on this board and is true. Strong opinions are that Ferry will be retained only if Duquesne decides they can't afford to buy him out. I know, like you, we think they can't afford to NOT buy him out because one more year of this garbage and what little support that is left will be gone. Let's say they do have the money or arrange not to renew, they will be doing this in the best interest of the program. No one can say keeping him would be a good basketball move when (ROUND UP OF YOUR INFOR
--Number of kids leaving over the last five years
-No winning record in the last five years
-I think 3, someone posted 4 winning seasons in the last 15 years
-Blaming everything on the previous coach...that he inherited a mess is his theme
-That he is always rebuilding
-Blaming the players HE recruited
-Worst attendance since before Ron E.
-Lack of much support for the program in the city, school, alumni
AND MORE...
It's a no brainer...unless it all comes down to the $$$$$$
