New marketing strategy.

I stand corrected by saying in prior post that our Athletic Dept. has failed in marketing our Basketball program. I was wrong and sincerely apologize Mr. Amodio. During tonights TV broadcast, you and your fellow geniuses had root sports run a commercial for fans to call and buy tickets to the Chuck Cooper classic, that was played 2 weeks ago!
This is the most ingenious idea I never thought of. I hope you have enough ticket agents manning the phones for the overwelling calls comming in, for people who want to buy tickets for a game that has already been played.

Mr. Daugherty, please stop this, please. Are you not embarresed by the firing, the leak, this season, and this brilliant marketing strategy?

Re: New marketing strategy.

I saw that commercial run twice on Root.  Truly an embarrassment.  I really just logged in to see if someone else noticed that.

Pathetic.

Re: New marketing strategy.

Speaking of embarassment, did anyone else pick up that the Butler announcers kept referring to us as the "Dukes from Duquesne"? Have we sunk so far that we've moved the campus up the Mon River a few miles? Last I checked we were still the Dukes from PITTSBURGH!

Game is over and they just ran it again. I can't take it, I'm having another scotch, a very large scotch!

Yeah, that's the embarrassing part of the evening. The Butler announcers having the gall to say the Dukes from Duquesne.   Like their fans give a crap where Duquesne is located.

Not the fact that the school ran a commercial at least twice for a game that was ten days ago.

I'm sure that they were meaning, The Dukes of Duquesne Univ. I'll bet they don't know there is a town called Duquesne in Pittsburgh, IMO.

Re: New marketing strategy.

Agreed.   And they are Dukes from Duquesne.

So who gets fired over this mistake?  Derda?   I hope someone's head is on the chopping block.

Actually I can't even type that without laughing hysterically.  No one at that joke of an athletic department even cares that they ran a 10 day old commercial not once but twice.

Nope read my post after yours, they ran it three times, one after the game was over. They needed a filler. Honestly, 3 frick-- times, because they are to cheap to advertise a future game. Again they couldn't run a lemonade stand!! let alone advertise it. fresh lemonade hear, made 10 days ago, and there is nothing left, who wants a glass!

Once  there was a promotion cup holder given out at the arena around 1975, we were playing a southern school, our cup holder said DUKE Basketball , we howled, since Duke University was just beginning their rise with Gene Banks of Philly. So this stuff has been going on for awhile.

We're the Dukes from Duquesne University. As Scotch said, those hayseeds don't know there is a town named Duquesne. It would be like Ray saying "the Bulldogs from Butler".

Sorry duq81, I'm not buying your theory. I've never heard ANY announcer ever referring to the Blue Devils from Duke, the Panthers from Pitt, the Hoosiers from Bloomington, the Wildcats from Kentucky, etc. etc.  Why didn't he just call us the Duquesne Dukes? I believe that "hayseed", as you called him, acutally didn't know that Duquesne is from Pittsburgh.
