Offline You nailed it with the JRob reference, CLK. Anyone could see that he had a quickness with his post moves that Lewis couldn't match. And Sanders is a 4 not a 5. So no PT for JRob early in the year. BTW, I'm getting on the Northwestern bandwagon. We do have more appearances than them for now. You couldn't help but notice when, on the rare occasion that JRob entered the game there was a different thing happening on offense: Robinson posting up and looking for the ball, and his teammates looking to try to get it to him. His teammates obviously were aware that he has good hands and low post moves. We would see this activity for a couple minutes, then - back to the bench. What an utter waste! Very true AC. That alone should have been enough to sour most on JF. For those who are young, or don't remember, Moon was a thin, but very athletic, 6"9" player from Chester. He sat out his first season with an injury, then was glued to John Cinicola's bench, only getting in at scrub time. Mike Rice however, thought Moon had potential, and gave him playing time. He was rewarded with two surprisingly solid seasons. Bobo could always seem to find the loose ball and put it up for a quick 2. Plus he had an All NCAA name! Offline You guys dreamers living in an alternate universe. Do you really think that a coach would seriously keep this great talent in Jordan Robinson on the bench while playing weaker players and losing games? Why would any coach purposely sabotage his own position? Offline You guys dreamers living in an alternate universe. Do you really think that a coach would seriously keep this great talent in Jordan Robinson on the bench while playing weaker players and losing games? Why would any coach purposely sabotage his own position? You're missing the point. No one is saying we have the talent to run with VCU or URI. What we are saying is that based on talent, we should be able to compete with George Mason, Bona, Richmond, LaSalle, etc. You do that, and you might be 9-9 in league play, not 3-15. If Ferry was 9-9, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Don't you think we have enough talent not to be losing to RMU every year, or having life and death struggles with St. Francis? That alone should have been enough to sour most on JF. To further the point that we have had and do have talent that isn't being utilized, look at the two transfers Desmond Ridenour and LG Gill, came in together, had obvious athletic ability, I mean remember the buzz around ridenour after the first summer league? Anyway, they had slightly different careers here and guess what? Both left and both have started/heavily contributed to each of their teams. Guess what else they have in common? They are both playing in the NCAA tournament. Offline You guys dreamers living in an alternate universe. Do you really think that a coach would seriously keep this great talent in Jordan Robinson on the bench while playing weaker players and losing games? Why would any coach purposely sabotage his own position? Do you really think a coach would insist on playing the same system that didn't work for four years in year five? Do you really think a coach would prepare his team for game-ending situations, or give them better coaching than "keep playing hard"? Do you really think a coach would sit a kid like Domo McKoy his senior season after a strong junior year? Do you really think a coach would tether an Eric James, who had emerged as a solid starter as a sophomore, to the bench his junior year? Offline Any more speculation on what time/day official news is going to come down? Offline Any more speculation on what time/day official news is going to come down? The Longer this goes on the more I worry. This should have been done this morning, cleanly and quickly. Offline Possibly giving JF time to find other opportunities, unlike the previous AD that couldn't give Ron a week to investigate other opportunities. I'm sure we would all want to see this handled in a more professional manner than the last time. Valid point Last edited by Tejas_Duke (3/13/2017 11:31 am) Offline Duquesne operated under best legal practices as any organization would do. The presser had been scheduled. If you've ever been in the unfortunate position of either the firer or the firee, you understand. (There are no winners here.) Offline Leaking the email didn't fall under best practices. Offline By the way, if the decision to sink Ferry would not expect the news til after the WNIT selections.

My point about Ferry's inability to develop players got turned sideways, as was my point about a good coach with existing recruiting connections being able to back fill quickly. Honestly I don't care about Cox. It is hard to get you point across and stay on topic on this board sometimes with people searching for the fly poop in the pepper. Glad you understand my point.

Yes , Moon was always around the ball and either a timely rebound or opportune tip in just always seemed to come at the most needed time. Plus the students ( yes they attended games then, and raised hell ( Shieks) and the fans loved Moon.

I've got to say that some of the comments I've read above are delusional at best. I challenge anyone to claim they watched this game today and still claim that Duquesne's present talent can be competitive with URI and VCU with better coaching alone.

When you become competitive in the league, you then have a chance to land the player, or two, that will allow you to compete with the top teams. Those guys don't usually want to go to a team that finishes 10-22. Go 19-12, and you might be able to sell them on being the missing piece.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Ferry landed his best class on paper, after his best season.

Ovie Soko was a beast and is now playing in the 2nd best league to the NBA (Spain). Quevyn Winters was a legit NBA prospect before he got in trouble for punching that ref. Micah Mason was an absolute stud, sometimes that fact was underestimated because of the lack of depth behind him which made him have to over compensate at times. I mean seriously, that kid could have played for almost any program in the country (in varying roles) by the end of his career. I agree with everyone about J Rob. The only facet of the game that Lewis was actually better at was being tall. I think most would agree it almost seemed like Ferry had a personal vendetta with J Rob. The things he said about him in press conferences didn't match what he was doing on the court, it was wierd. There are plenty more talented guys over the years but I've listed enough.
The takeaway is that as talent has come and gone, there has been one common denominator, Jim Ferry.

A coach might do that. Just not one who can be successful at this level.
You keep misquoting people about how much improvement we can see with a better coach. Actually, what you're trying to do is discredit our opinions. But here's the thing, levon: Eveyone at Duquesne sees the need for change right now. While I respect your opinions and don't try to discredit them by calling you names, you currently have the minority opinion. You, and Hilltopper, who from his posts is disappointed that Greg is gone.
Change comes starting today. It will not take 10 years to fix with the right coach.
