Offline Mitchell Abramson@nydnmabramson Christ the kings Jon severe said that of all the colleges recruiting him Duquesne has shown him the most attention and is "like family." You are not kidding. On paper, Severe and Watkins would be the best pair of recruits since Atkins, and Arnold, maybe since the ill fated NYC group of 40 years ago. (Not talking about how they turned out. Clark and Saunders, and Price and Mike James both turned out to be terrific pairs, but Clark, and James were not highly regarded coming out of high school). Offline Some information on Duane Notice. Offline Steve Brodzinski@PGHbballReport@Shmilson_3 6'4 Devin Wilson (Montour, PA) watched Duquesne tonight vs George Washington. Duquesne has not offered, but interested in Wilson Offline Article on Duane Notice Offline Thanks for the info on Duane Notice, he looks very strong, definitely the type of body needed for the tough A-10. He is said to be a good defender who plays the game with a lot of heart; and a 4.0 GPA. The highlights don't show him shooting from the perimeter, but hopefully that is in another video. You have to love his agressiveness and strength. Offline Here is another recent video where he talks about his recruitment. Offline From Recruit Scoop: Offline I'm glad to see they're looking at some JC kids. Need to keep the classes balanced. Offline Add West Virginia to the long list of schools to offer Jon Severe. If we could some how land this kid it would be beyond huge for the Dukes. Offline Garrett Tucker@GTuckerF150 2014 Lincoln Park (PA) SF Ryan Skovranko lists offers from Virginia Tech, Temple, Duquesne, Kent State, Elon, Liberty & Quinnipiac Offline Add West Virginia to the long list of schools to offer Jon Severe. If we could some how land this kid it would be beyond huge for the Dukes. He sure would play right away. Offline Another name: Last edited by CLK (2/17/2013 9:09 am) Offline NOTICE LIKES THREE Offline These guys all sound like good prospects. Got to land a few of them. Offline why wouldnt Ferry offer Wilson? I know DU needs bigs, but not even an offer? Offline **Christ the King senior shooting guard Jon Severe will trip to Alabama Feb. 25-26, head coach Joe Arbitello told SNY.tv. West Virginia assistant Larry Harrison is also expected to watch the 6-foot-2 Severe tonight (Wednesday) when Christ the King plays Holy Cross in the New York CHSAA Brooklyn/ Queens Diocesan Playoffs. Purdue, Tennessee and Rutgers are among the other schools involved, along with Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne and George Washington. Check back here later tonight for more on Severe. Offline Follow up article by Adam Zagoria on Jon Severe Offline Alex Kline@TheRecruitScoopPittsburgh has offered 2013 Christ the King (NY) SG Jon Severe. West Virginia offered earlier this week. Offline Severe Leads Christ the King to Title, Will Visit West Virginia Saturday, Pittsburgh Later; Seton Hall Watches Point Guard Offline Severe Leads Christ the King to Title, Will Visit West Virginia Saturday, Pittsburgh Later; Seton Hall Watches Point Guard It looks like our coaches were in early on a very good player who has blown up to the point that we are now walking among the giants, and probably out of the picture for this guy. Too bad he blossomed so soon. I just hope he isn't taken in by the snake Huggins. These coaches like Huggins and Dixon just like to stockpile players to keep the players from going elsewhere, where they can play immediately. They're like pigs feeding at the trough; never enough; just keep gorging yourself and stockpiling players. The kids can always transfer and sit out a year when it doesn't work out, or they get "recruited over". Huggins took a bunch of transfers that all had baggage, and it kind of blew up in his face this year. It looks like he has lost some of his zest for coaching. Offline With Pitt and WVU now in the Severe mix I can't say I'm feeling too good about this. We better not be without any quality alternatives or this could turn in the wrong direction. Ferry and staff have had a chance to really target this Spring class so I am not looking for "we were in with Severe" but WVU and Pitt jumped in. Again, I hope this is not the case, but we clearly wanted Castro bad and when he threw us out like yesterday's PG we didn't seem to have any viable alternative for the bigger pg. Watkins is a very good get, but we need 2 more of equal quality to jump start the turnaround. Colter, JJ and Q was a good base in a limited window, but the trajectory has to go up. Bottom line is I am tired of close but no cigar. Recruiting is like sales, you've got to be able to sell the target and close the sale. Offline I think Huggs is building a very good A-10 program. Notice, a 2013 combo guard from St. Thomas More (CT), is on the verge of earning high-major offers. With that being said, he could come in and make a tremendous impact in a conference like the Atlantic-10. With a mature body, one can notice that Notice's shooting, decision making and defense standout from the get go. As he will definitely visit Duquesne officially, he will begin taking visits in the middle of February or March. Loyola Marymount, Purdue, St. Bonaventure, West Virginia, Detroit, Nebraska, UConn, Tennessee and others are also involved and in the running for the other four official visits.

"An important mid-major official visit that took place was Duquesne getting 2013 Quality Education (NC) center Jordan Robinson on campus. With a fellow Canadian on board already in Isaiah Watkins, the Dukes are trying to utilize their connections with friends up north to put together an impressive 2013 recruiting class. DePaul, Minnesota, Xavier and others are also involved for Robinson."
Also a couple new names:
JUCO PG TraVoughn - Offer
JUCO SG Ben Vozzola - Interest

Re: Recruiting
Ran Tut: Of the players on this list, Tut had college coaches buzzing the most with his strong play. The 2013 post from Sarasota (Fla.) Impact Academy was limited in his minutes because of foul trouble, but he had a huge presence to his game when he was on the court. Tut is a good athlete with length, while standing 6-foot-8. He loves to play on the wing on offense and attack slower big guys off the dribble, and he shows the ability to change directions on the bounce. However, Tut's real strength is on the block, where he posts physically despite a lack of strength. On defense, the senior looks like he can be an impact player at the college level, which is why schools such as Bradley, Florida International, Duquesne and Southern Illinois watched him play.

Duane Notice, a 6-3 Canadian combo guard at St. Thomas More, lists Duquesne, St. Bonaventure and Seton Hall.
“He’s talking about those three,” Quinn said. “We will take about [visits] when the season ends.”
He added: “He can score, defend, he’s cerebral. He knows how to play.” •Thread Starter

I feel like we still have a chance. It seems like his coach at least has the sense to realize that Severe is probably better off staying away from the BCS. Honestly, Huggins might not be there for Severe's entire career.
As for Castro, he took at least a week following his Butler visit to decide on them. I wouldn't say we were just cast aside. Completely agree though that we need to begin winning these battles.
