Offline Didn't think we had the guts to move ahead. Glad to be wrong. Hope I'm wrong about my second point as well. Offline Offline Jim Ferry is the #4 trending topic in Pittsburgh on Twitter right now. Offline Jim Ferry is the #4 trending topic in Pittsburgh on Twitter right now. First time he was relevant since he was hired. Offline I wish coach ferry well. Never met him but appeared to be a good man. Will be interesting to see where Harper and the search firm go with this. Offline Well, now it gets interesting for the next few weeks. I fully expect to lose all our recruits and at least one of the "Mikes". Still, it had to be done. Despite losing some promising talent, it is like when Branch Rickey told Ralph Kiner - 'I finished last with you, I can finish last without you.' Let's hope we can get this hiring right and do something similar to what Rhody has accomplished. Offline I believe ED is deserving of some praise. Solid scoop, my friend. Also, there has been some social media activity amongst our freshmen. Nothing groundbreaking so far, just thanking ferry. Offline Here's a very mature response from Mike Lewis II. Offline Here's a very mature response from Mike Lewis II. I hope I Mike feels the same way and that they can convince the recruits to hang in there. Offline Here's a very mature response from Mike Lewis II. I hope I Mike feels the same way and that they can convince the recruits to hang in there. If those two are open to staying, I believe this job instantly becomes more attractive. That gives a new coach a lot to work with. Also, I believe that Harper and gormley are committed to succeeding, and they will make that very well known during the search. Offline That butt head Zeise is trashing DU on the fan, saying nothings changed without investigating anything! Someone call in and support Harper and Gormley!!! JF has no one to blame but himself, bad coaching job and 21 loses in year 5!! Offline Paul Ziese is absolutely ranting about the firing on 93.7 right now. Offline Zeise is on the radio crying the blues about Duquesne firing a "great coach". It's enough to make me gag. He doesn't even realize we have a new president and AD. Offline I lose more and more respect from Zeiss every time he open his mouth about Duquesne. What the hell would he know about this? It's not like he nor his employer covered the team or watched a game while Ferry was here. Offline I liked Jim, as a person, and am sorry to see him go. Over the last few losses my comment was that he "can't put the ball in the basket for these guys." But, admittedly, his in-game coaching was consistently lacking. The fact that his family moved back to New York was very telling. I wish Jim, his mother & Dad, & the rest of his family well. Offline Zeise is a talentless hack. And I scooped his arse. With all due respect, why concern yourself with what Ziese said. He doesn't pay attention to the program. Offline Offline Hi Everyone, Last edited by Ifky 07 (3/13/2017 8:12 pm) Offline Great, now we probably have to learn how to lose all over again. Offline A10 board says rumors are Duquesne will pay new coach a million dollars. Offline A10 board says rumors are Duquesne will pay new coach a million dollars. Oops just saw this on the other thread. Offline A10 board says rumors are Duquesne will pay new coach a million dollars. That kind of money might be able to at least make a coach like king rice or Kevin Keatts take a closer look at this job. If they are really making an offer like that, I do not believe they are going to take a chance at an assistant coach. They want either a top up and coming coach or a big name retread.

I hate myself for loving you. Quoting me without the expressed written consent of the National Hockey League is prohibited.

Hopefully, we retain the guys we do have & those coming in, although that's doubtful. Oh well, I guess those of us who do go to all of the games will have to look forward to another rebuilding effort.
I quit reading this board in mid February because it was depressing reading the comments from all who don't even go to the games. I hope to see all of you back now that Ferry is gone. Or will everyone stay away because we're again in a "rebuilding" phase. I guess only time will tell. But here's hoping to see a few more of you locals at the games next year.
40 plus years of living and dying with this program here. Don't go to the games because it's a 6 hour drive one way.
But I care as much about the program as anyone who gets to every game. •Thread Starter

Re: It's official
So if he said Ferry was a great coach, really do you need anything more than that to discount his opinion.
Re: It's official
This firm looks legit.
Re: It's official
This is my first post and I'm happy to finally jump into the boards. I've been reading the commentary on here for awhile and appreciate the insight and scoops that nearly everyone provides. I am currently down in Charlotte so I don't have nearly as much line of sight into the program as I used to when I was in Pittsburgh.
The news today reignited my interest - I've followed through all of tough losses of Ferry's tenure, the ups and downs with Ron, but only mild interest while on campus (Ron's first year was my senior grand total of 33 wins during my four years on the bluff).
The basketball program keeps me connected to the university - and I've emailed Gormley and Harper this year saying as much (along with my critiques of the state of the program and more notably the coach) and that I hope I didn't need to preach about the ways a strong athletic program can strengthen and mobilize (aka donations) an alumni base. To my surprise they both responded in very short order. Those responses made me feel like something may be brewing.
El Duque's scoop and the news today confirms it.
Now let's not drop the ball - though Harper doesn't strike me as someone who would.
Go Dukes!
