Players near the end if Season?

What was J Rob's injury?   Will it require surgery?   I think we beat St. Louis if he was available.

Why was Castro benched down the stretch?

Any thoughts on E James lack of minutes?  I thought he earned more time.

None of it really matters now.

It really doesn't matter now, true enough. But if Castro had been used to spell Smith, who was having his best game of the year before getting gassed (maybe), the result might have been different

Was Castro hurt?  Suspension?   He played a ton and then nothing.   I realize it doesn't matter now just trying to understand what happened.

Re: Players near the end if Season?

I heard that J Rob was injured and not available. No clue about Castro. Not that J Rob was being played when he was healthy.....

It's just possible that Ferry benched the older players to have a "young team" of starters returning at the expense of the more experienced players for next year?  This was Ferry's argument  to get another year, right?  Who got all the minutes late in the season?

Probably right.   Strange strategy.

Re: Players near the end if Season?

There were reports that Robinson was benched.

Based on my observations, James and Castro were benchings,  but who knows why? That's why players flocked out of here. Once you landed in his dog house, you might as well toss the biscuits out.

And please ... no silly comments about "personal attacks." I'm basing this on observed behavior.

Re: Players near the end if Season?

I thought it was odd and I never see much info in the media.  Although James had limited minutes all year, Castro went from a lot of minutes to zero.   J Rob's injury left them with two forwards and was a big factor in several losses since J Rob was playing well in my opinion.

Re: Players near the end if Season?

Sorry meant to say Robinson INJURED. Of course I don't go to the games so how would I know.

That is true, you don't know!

Of course, I'm none too bright, neither, so I can't actually make observations based on box scores, first hand accounts of those who do go to games, and history.

It would be like me knowing Ferry's fate two days before it happened.

I mean, like, how the hell would I know?

Re: Players near the end if Season?

Actually, getting information on a firing from sources is not equivalent to evaluating a basketball game from a distance, based upon second hand information and box scores.  It is nothing like being at the game and able to watch the action first-hand.  Even watching on TV or live streaming, you only get what they give you.  When you are at the game you have the freedom of focusing on specific aspects of the game such as action away from the ball, individual offensive defensive matchups etc.
BTW, I knew on Friday evening that Jim Ferry would not be returning next year as coach.  Again, just the advantage of being here in Pittsburgh.

I love Pittsburgh and I love being in Pittsburgh. But you're wrong about my ability to evaluate based on the information I shared.

Re: Players near the end if Season?

Everyone:  Please focus

5 years -         60-97
Current Year- 10-22
NIT Bids-              0
NCAA Bids-          0

Approximate "Guessed" Annual Attendance:  1,000
Approximate "Guessed" Student Attendance:    250?  (Can't be higher...other than the home games off campus there were often less that 50 students and you should NOT count the pep band.)

NO ONE knows what will occur in the future my friends, BUT THE PRESENT WAS NOT WORKING!

Re: Players near the end if Season?

FAM, pretty much says it all. Sure, we could have kept JF around for 5 more years but there is little evidence to suggest that we would have seen any improvement in his coaching. What's the point! Dave Harper and President Gormley did exactly what had to be done. Period!

See El D, if you were actually here you could have seen all the specific aspects of us sucking a big one all year that you just don't get on tv.
