I know, I know Twitter has been hell on us, but Goodman doesn't say anything on his feed, Rothstein says Whitford is getting a second interview tonight and would it be out of the realm for ESPN to have a pre written article in anticipation and it got accidentally posted at 5:01.

They only have one recruit for next year but he is a 3 star point guard rated a 78 on ESPN. I was hoping a nice big center would be committed to Ball State and transfer over.

Coach Whitford resume
Four years at Arizona two as Associate Head Coach, looks like an excellent hire.

OK does anyone else think this guy looks a little like a former DU coach.

Im also seeing ball state has a 6'7" forward committed who is a 3 star on verbal commits.

Just what you would expect from an A-hole Pittsburgh media person like Zeise. Never mind he that he has only been a head coach for 4 years and turned that program around in two years winning 21 games his last two years.
Paul Zeise
James Whitford has a 52-71 record and has never been to the NIT or NCAA Tournament. But he's been to the CIT twice.

Took an awful Ball St to back to back MAC division titles. We need that kind of turn around.

i really like this hire. 8 years with x and az. protege of sean miller. defensive minded. knows the a10; Ball st was a train wreck for 12 years before his arrival and he got them back to back 20 win seasons by years 3-4...
wasn't the sexy pick, so to speak. but really solid, proven winner. STABLE--just what Duq needs

Yea and Gunn is rated 77 on ESPN. Not bad

Not trying to be a downer but let's wait until the official announcement.

This is one crazy world. ESPN reports emphatically that Whitford is hired then you get this tweet:
Jon Rothstein
Duquesne has not hired Ball State's James Whitford, per multiple sources. Two sides are meeting tonight, but nothing is done

Yep. I'm not getting too high or too low until he signs his signature on a contract.

Good advice.

ESPN corrected their report, claimed original report was an "editing error." The entire media should be embarrassed at their reporting on this job search.

If they are meeting, thats good. I wont believe he is our coach until his presser is over. Sorry umass.

Got to wonder how a guy like Jeff Goodman could report this. He is a nationally respected sports writer (not a wannabe lazy pretender like Zeise). The only thing I can think of is that there was a memorandum of understanding entered into by both parties, and that they were meeting tonight to finalize the contract. As UMass can attest it ain't over till the fat lady sings, and even then it's not over.

Kelsey actually signed a contract too. Umass let him out of it for confidential "personal reasons."
