I saw on Twitter today that Mike Lewis is asking for his release for the purpose of transferring. I'm hearing that there will be many more to follow. I warned that this would happen if ferry was fired. We had two choices: 1) fire ferry and most likely lose most of the young talented players or recruits that we finally assembled; or 2) keep ferry and hope the increased talent level masks ferry's coaching shortcomings. We made our choice, and now we have to live with it. I warned that this would happen if ferry was fired. We made our choice, and now we have to live with it. We would have lost all of them next year anyway. Better to move on now. At least we have one recruit who is sticking with us for now. But the way things are going this could be fake news. I do not respect or trust anybody in the local media. DU needs to conclude this search quickly with a silent good hire. Update: Lewis told our post gazette beat writer that he hasn't made a final decision about whether to transfer, but wants to explore his options. Well not so fast Last edited by CLK (3/24/2017 6:43 pm) Update: Lewis told our post gazette beat writer that he hasn't made a final decision about whether to transfer, but wants to explore his options. Add Sanders to the list Last edited by CLK (3/25/2017 11:32 am) Add Sanders to the list if a player wants to go, good luck to them. We were 10-22 last year.

Mike Lewis Transferring
I 'm not surprised by the news, but was hopeful that the current players might at least wait until they met with the new coach. He probably came here with the expectation that the coach had three years left on his contract and there would be some stability. Players are attached to their coaches rather than the school. This has been proven time after time at any number of schools.
I was on record as saying that I would have given Ferry and his staff another year to try and get better results. It may have just delayed the inevitable, but we'll never know.
With the exception of politicians, can you think of a more unscrupulous group of people than those involved in college athletics; and I don't mean the players, but the coaches, administrators?

Well, I am one fan who is a little sick of hearing from this Lewis kid, first he didn't play on a 21-4 NCAA team ( 70-71) but lead the Dukes into double digit wins ( 10 ) and specialized in slow starts of games and missing winning shots and free throws.
Will another school give him the Ferry green light ? Maybe, but most likely not.
A diehard fan since 1961

Things are going to get a lot worse before they start getting better.
