Friend on the team said their are currently only 4 members on roster for next year What were you expecting? The coach gets fired and people get uncomfortable and start looking around. That's the reality when you fire a coach and take far too long to replace him. We now know the actual retail price ( mass defections / roster gutted ) for what appears to be , at least at this point unless Mr. Harper pulls a rabbit out of the hat , a potential marginal improvement in the game day coaching ( A Jim Ferry weakness to be sure ). I feel you Ghost. I had a dream last night where I was trying to pick up one of my kids and I was in a building in a packed neighborhood with similar buildings (think NYC look) and I couldn't find my car no matter what way I turned or street I went down - thank God I woke up. This is what this reminds me of. If you watched any of the last 5 years, no improvement at all. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. I feel you Ghost. If the roster is indeed gutted the rebuild truly begins at ground zero. We are looking at a minimum of 2 years to be even remotely competitive unless the new coach has an immense amount of connections.
I am truly conflicted at this point if firing Ferry at this time was the way to go.
Was it possible he had the beginnings of something positive given the top of the A-10 would come back to the pack a little bit . VCU and Dayton changing coaches and each losing 4 of their top 6 players ???
Would the player improvement in the younger guys along with the incoming class have given the team a boost to at least the middle of the pack in 2017-18 ??
Still , his continuous gross mismanagement of end of game situations ( especially when you see how real coaches , for the most part , handle these situations under tournament pressure ) is something he may have never figured out.
Truly conflicted I say !!
