Offline So, we are all frustrated, perhaps angry and very upset that we have hit rock bottom. After 40 years of neglect, this may be a good thing. Do we have the courage to rise from the ashes? Offline I'm still in and willing to allow the process to play out. Offline So, we are all frustrated, perhaps angry and very upset that we have hit rock bottom. After 40 years of neglect, this may be a good thing. Do we have the courage to rise from the ashes? to answer your question truthfully: I am probably done. I have said before, Ferry was my last shot at this. If we would get a quality coach, the Mikes stayed and at least two of the new recruits committed to the new program then I would have hope and stick around, but that will not be the case. Not just the Mikes but Sanders is deserting as well and the recruits are bailing. I am not putting up with a C- level coach who has nothing to work with and single digit win totals for at least the next 2 and probably 3 seasons! As my wife said, if this causes you so much anger and heartbreak why do you keep putting yourself through this? I am really, really considering that option. Offline As my wife said, if this causes you so much anger and heartbreak why do you keep putting yourself through this? It's because you're a fan. Being a fan is different from being a logical person.
COURAGE
President Gormley: The president is known for his rebuild of the Law School. Do you have the courage to affirm the commitment to excellence needed? My guess: yes.
AD Harper: Do you have the courage to abandon the Search Firm and talk to candidates that have contacted you? They want to be here. And, no, I do not want Mike Rice. My guess: fifty/fifty.
AD Harper: Do you have the courage to reinvigorate your department which seems to have failed you? My guess: yes.
Players: I thank you for coming to Duquesne. It is a strong educational institution. We have heard of the strong family atmosphere that you have. When a patriarch passes on, families tend to bond rather than break apart. To those who leave, I wish you the best. To those seeking a P5 school, remember L.G.Gill. He did not even have to sit out a year as you will have to do and was over-recruited to the point that he sat for 33 minutes a game. To those moving laterally or down, your prospects are better. To those that stay, do you have the courage to advocate for the better build? My guess: you certainly will.
New Coach: We will have a new coach. Do you have the courage to take on the rise from the ashes? Can you build it to overcome forty years of utter decline? My hope: a resounding yes.
My Fellow Board Members: Do we have the courage to keep supporting this program? It has been hard to be a Dukes Fan. Almost all who post here absolutely care. In this process, I have waivered about staying on as a season ticket holder, donor, and fan. But I love DU and what it has done for me. Tough times demand courage in the face of adversity. I want the above to display courage. So, for me: LET'S GO DUKES!
