Offline For those of us not in the Pittsburgh area, what is the pronunciation of the new coach's name? Is it Dam-brat as in bratwurst, or Dam-broh as in oh my God? Offline For those of us not in the Pittsburgh area, what is the pronunciation of the new coach's name? Is it Dam-brat as in bratwurst, or Dam-broh as in oh my God? I assumed broh but have been hearing brat by people from here and akron Offline Similar to Bilgy's query, anyone else here has been thinking and hearing DRAMbot rather than DamBROT? I've been reading and pronouncing this guy's name wrong for years. Offline 93.7 update: small preview of Dambrot with little depth on background then another negative dig at the program "he has a lot of work to do with Duquesne winning 3 conference games last year. All of their recruits have decommitted and they have three players on the team transferring including star freshman mike and mike" Offline Pretty sure it's Dam-Brot (like Bratwurst) based on how I heard it pronounced on the radio today. I'll be sure to have the correct pronunciation before our first home game next year when I introduce him for the first time! All of their recruits have decommitted and they have three players on the team transferring including star freshman mike and mike" Hoping a lot of local media learns quickly they have to change all their narratives. New administration, new head coach, new hope and new future. I have strong faith these are the right leaders to take Duquesne where we want it to go. I'm excited to see this all develop! Offline I could swear I've heard it pronounced Dam-Bro. I'm hoping that's what it is, When I saw the news here last night, I cranked up my Ramones record & starting singing, "HEY, HO! DAM-BRO!" It would be a shame if that were just a one-time performance. Altho' my wife would disagree. Offline we'll just get the students to yell KEEEEEITH (a la heath miller) when he's introduced in the starting lineups Offline we'll just get the students to yell KEEEEEITH (a la heath miller) when he's introduced in the starting lineups What students? Offline I suspect that will change. Offline El Duque, Offline I hope the students get behind the program, it sure would mean a lot. I make fun of pitt football playing in front of 18,000 at heinz field, thats about as bad as our hoops team playing in front of 1200. It shows support, attracts more talent, more tv, more local media(Legit media not the PG), and helps win games. Offline Someone please correct me if I heard wrong. But on the Fan yesterday, when Harper was trying to answer the ignorant question about football, he said the undergrad enrollment was something like 64%-36% Female. That's a huge marketing issue for men's sports to address. I still think a couple of thousand students would easily support a winning program even with that disparity. Also it's 2017, women will go to sporting events if the team is good. Women like sports too. Offline Women like sports too. Offline Women like sports too. They need to market to students, not specifically male or specifically female students. Idk if you attend the games but for the students that do show up, it's basically 50-50 in terms of gender in attendance. We just need the students to show up, you can appeal to both sexes from a marketing perspective probably easier than trying to appeal to one or the other, ultimately both in general. Last edited by Duques102 (3/29/2017 1:17 pm) Offline OK, talked to my brother who has coached basketball in Ohio for 50 years, went to Ashland U. (where KD once coached), and knows KD. He pronounced Dambrot: "DAM-BROUGHT." Offline OK, talked to my brother who has coached basketball in Ohio for 50 years, went to Ashland U. (where KD once coached), and knows KD. They can't stop taking shots at us. First of all nobody is staying or gone for sure. Number 2 the reason the record was so bad was because we had a coach who does not belong at this level, now we do which they fail to mention.
This intentional smear campaign is now just comical and makes them look pathetic now that we have hired a better coach than the school that lines their pockets up the street.
I'm predicting two city win games in a row 93.7.

Re: Small Question
Maybe its time to come up with a new student section, like the Red Storm or Sea of Red. Make it mandatory for freshman to attend at least one game. :-)

I didn't say they didn't. It's a marketing issue, or let's say a marketing opportunity. Winning will help some, but we're not seeing thousands of students at women's games either. Harper pointed out- in regard to the possible Palumbo renovations- the desire to engage the needs of the entire student body.

Best marketing tool? A relevant and successful basketball team.
In regards to the renovations, I think he meant adding renovations that benefit regular student in addition to student athletes.
