Is this the big reveal?  Ha, ha!  I must admit that I was very anxious to read your post.  I spoke to Dan Burt at the of end of the season and suggested playing St. John's for another 2 years.  Not sure where my suggestion will go.  But Dan did say that continuing playing a Big East team, such as St. John's, appealed to him.

I think it's safe to add Bobby Mo to the men's schedule at the PPG Paint Can.  However, I would be greatly surprised if Robert Morris women's team played the Dukes next season.  They are still stewing over Judith Sole's transfer to Duquesne two years ago.

Re: 2017-18 schedules

Those are the only verifiable games so far. Actually I've run over to DU's athletic site a couple times as the soccer schedules have been announced, thinking it was the hoop schedule.

Bobby Mo enjoys whoopin us too much to let a little thing like a transfer get in their way.

In women's hoops? I don't think so.

The days of them beating us in men's hoops are coming to an end.

I agree El D,

We will have size and talent that Bobby U can't match up with and remember those thousand set plays that Coach D can surprise them with.

I agree! Some on the board were crying when we got UConn last year. I thought it was one of the best things to ever happen for the program. We got 10 times the attention we would have received taking a 20 point loss vs some anonymous ACC team. The fact the Geno has us on his schedule tells you all you need to know.

Gotcha Rick, but we don't have any transfers from their men's team. And of course during the past seasons they have whupped on us like a big brother, and you're right, as long as they think they can continue to do that we'll be on their schedule.

Their women's team ran and hid from us after Judith Sole transferred here.

Sorry if I cause any corn-fusion!

Re: 2017-18 schedules

Dan Burt doesn't back down from competition. Playing that rugged schedule last year after losing two such talented seniors tells you all you need to know. Paid off when they made a run in the A-10 Tournament.

They'll be battle-tested this year. And I think they'll be back in the NCAAs.

I'm the confused one. I missed where he switched from the men's team to the women's team in GoDukes post

In my original post I inadvertently failed to clarify that it was the Robert Morris women's team that had chosen not to play the Dukes' women's team for the past two years. I expect there will be no game between the teams in the 2017-2018 season.  I later edited my first post and inserted the word "women."

The Dukes' women's b-ball all-time record against Robert Morris is 32-13.

Can't vouch for this site's accuracy, but it appears to have a comprehensive listing of teams participating in early season tourneys. They have not picked up anything on the Dukes yet.

Yes, that is sight I read.  Also googled Bahamas tournaments and saw nothing.  Would like to know Steel city's source

Re: 2017-18 schedules

Duquesne will host VMI on November 14th as part of 2017-18 non-conference schedule.

Also, A10 will announce the 2017-18 conference schedule pairings this afternoon.

Dayton, Fordham, GW, St. Bonnie's, St. Louis.

Seems like the same ones we usually get.

I suspect you're right. Dayton, Bonnie and Louie for sure. I think Mason, Richmond and URI have doubled up on our schedule recently too.

Re: 2017-18 schedules

Cornell Daily Sun reports that Cornell will play at Duquesne on November 27.   Lost 21 last year but at least someone people have heard of

Going into the first year shorthanded, a soft schedule is called for.

Re: 2017-18 schedules

Please Mr. Harper, how about a road trip to Rice, or the University of Houston?  Or even Texas State, or how about lower mid major power house Stephen F. Austin or Sam Houston State?

UH, but not yet. Sampson's rebuilding is ahead of ours at this point. We need to schedule wins this year. Upgrade the schedule when we can handle it.
