Offline I was reading this Washington Post article about my hometown 76ers' new No. 1 draft pick. It mentioned a game in Fultz's junior year at DeMatha when he led his team to a come-from-behind win against Jayson Tatum and Chaminade College Prep at the National High School Hoops Festival. In fact, Fultz led DeMatha to come-from-behind wins against Tatum and Chaminade in both of his last two high school seasons. In his senior year, DeMatha came back from 10 back with 3 minutes to play and eventually won in overtime over Chaminade in the Hoophall Classic. Duquesne's Mike Lewis was Chaminade's starting point guard in both of those games, scoring 12 and 7 points respectively. Offline Dennis, thanks for that post! Good insights. Offline He played a total of 58 minutes in 12 games, ED, not sure that qualifies as playing a lot. The one game that sticks out in my mind was the Rhode Island game. Dukes were simply getting abused inside for much of that game, so much so that Ferry actually gave Robinson more playing time than usual and he held his own (9 points, 5 rebounds and a block in 18 minutes). But Sanders, Mike, Lewis, Abrahamson were all just getting owned, Rhode Island scoring and rebounding at will inside. Ferry put Sanders back in to start the second half and Rhode Island smelled blood in the water and took it right at him. Soon the game got out of hand and Ferry turned to Taylor who finished with 8 points and a couple of boards in 13 minutes and definitely looked like he belonged against one of the A10's more physical teams, more than can be said for some other players on that team, none of whom will be back for this coming season. Offline Also, Nick Washington has enrolled at DU. Don't know about his qualification status. He potentially could be a walk on if he qualifies before September, or a partial qualifier (if the NCAA still allows that) and be eligible in December. Offline When you put it that way, no I guess he didn't. Offline FYI - don't want to put this in a separate thread, but my bill $$ for my season tickets and parking came today. They are actually a little less than two years ago which is nice. Offline Also, Nick Washington has enrolled at DU. Don't know about his qualification status. Not doubting you, but where did you get this info? This is certainly good news. Can always use front court depth. Offline Also, Nick Washington has enrolled at DU. BTW you can see him at the end of the video with Dr. Carr.
Don't sleep on Markelle Fultz's HS teammate
And who scored the basket that sent the second game into overtime? That would be Duquesne's Kellon Taylor, with a buzzer-beating 10-footer, assisted by Fultz. There used to be a Vine of it, but here's a photo of Taylor rejecting a Tatum shot in that game. The same Jayson Tatum who was just drafted third overall by the Celtics. I really hope Coach Dambrot can find more playing time for this kid, he's a winner.
Re: Don't sleep on Markelle Fultz's HS teammate
Ferry played Taylor a lot, but the kid never seemed comfortable on the court. I suspect with the slim roster this season he'll get his chances, this time, with coaching.
Re: Don't sleep on Markelle Fultz's HS teammate
I suppose we didn't see much else from Taylor in very limited minutes but that game showed me there's some ability and toughness there. Reminded me of Rocky White from the late '80s Dukes teams. I'm looking forward to seeing what Dambrot can do with him. •Thread Starter

I guess the URI game is stuck in my memory. Wouldn't be a bad idea if other memories from last season also went the way of my declining brain cells.
