Dukes borrow a page from the Pens...

Tonight the Dukes posted to their Instagram account that players and coaches are delivering tickets to the homes of season ticket buyers. I think this is a great way to do some grassroots stuff to endear yourself to a fanbase.

It's also another item to add to the growing list of reasons why this coach, this AD, and this president are going to get things right.

Also - for those that don't have Instagram you can see here...

For those that don't follow the Dukes on instagram they are @DuqMBB

Go Dukes!

We as fans are part of this equation for basketball success.Without our support and good attendance from
students and  alums the program and all its promises of NCAA tourneys and national recognition, it could
still fail. When you get in the car to come to the games bring a friend or family member with you.If you
got to pay for the tickets to get them to come then do it.We are a passionate bunch period, our loyalty
has been tested for years,we need to convey that passion and hope to others. You put 4,000 folks in
that building and these players will run through  concrete  and  all this potential energy  and frustation
is released and Palumbo  is a destination for college basketball fans in Pittsburgh. And then when that happens  our only worries will be how to pay for the cost of the tickets for the national championship game
between Duquesne and UCLA COMING UP IN 2021.I guess I will have to put retirement plans on hold. to
fund traveling all over the country to see the DUkes win
I think we were all brokenhearted in 1970 when our date with destiny to beat UCLA  crumbled and  I know
I want a shot at UCLA before I check out of here.GET IT DONE FELLAS.

Re: Dukes borrow a page from the Pens...

Great PR: Mike Lewis came to our door last night to deliver our season tickets.  My 13-year old son was the one who answered the door.  He has been going to Dukes games since he was 5...Imagine how happy and surprised he was seeing Mike Lewis standing there on our doorstep.  Talk about a fan for life.  I'm just disappointed that I wasn't there to great Mike and the other players he was with.  Looking forward to Nov. 11th.

I'd like that. UCLA was always my second favorite team with Coach Wooden winning 10 titles in 12 years. Don't remember the year but if memory serves we would have played them in a Steel Bowl if we hadn't lost the first game.

Well, Alcindor has moved on, but they still have the Walton kid and Sven Nader is going to be a huge star.

OK, like Stew, this was THE team when I was growing up.

I probably would have lost my mind if that was me. What a lucky little dude.

Wow! Got to love that!!
Despite John Wooden's grandfatherly image, UCLA was a dirty, dirty program back then, The Steel Bowl was back in December of 1970. That was the senior year of Jarrett, and the Nelsons, and the last time Duquesne had a team that was ranked for much of the season. They lost to Pitt, which was a huge upset, and the first indication that Buzz Ridl was going to get things done there.

Dukes lost to pitt because JD was injured and did not play.  I thoughly enjoyed the Bruins beating pitt the next night. Winning 10 national titles in 12 years makes a lot of people jealous.  Nobody’s done it before or since.

Having the ultimate sugar daddy, Sam Gilbert, sure didn't hurt. Filthy program.
