Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

Dukes got spanked on the boards and with no effective point guard and over dribbling a rule, we got our butts kicked.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

I'm sorry, but mike Lewis really let his team down today. Zero point and one assist is unacceptable. We essentially had six players tonight and no one got much rest, but he has to find a way to contribute.

Back to earth for the optimists. As Syd Thrift once said, "it ain't easy raising the dead".

Awful! I'll withold opinions until the team is healthy, but this is very disappointing. We're the Pitt women, and Bobby Mo is our women. They own us. Maybe Ferry was right about Robinson. He's done nothing. The influx of bigs can't come soon enough.

I'm beginning to agree with ferry about Robinson. Defense is poor and his rebounding is not much better.

He's a long way from being Mike James, let alone Nixon. This is his first tough stretch since he's been here. How he responds will tell us a lot about him.

Yep. Right now he's just a jump shooter. Dambrot always talks about making him a complete player. He's got a lot of work to do. He has to get to the point where he still impacts the game on nights where his shot isn't falling.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

Good game everyone. We are very happy up in Moon. 7 of 8! Dukes have some good young talent, and so do the Colonials. Today was the prettiest game but I would expect both programs to continue to get better over the next few years. I wont be shocked if RMU plays the Dukes to open up UPMC next season. Go Colonials!

Still the undisputed kings of the greater Pittsburgh area. The COLONIALS

I think you guys will challenge for the NEC title this year. You have a bunch of good guards and that JC transfer is a beast down low. The Dukes looked gassed in the second half. Need to get healthy or it's going to be a long year.

“It really is a tough situation for us and I think our women would feel the same way. We’re supposed to win. We’re an A10 school and they’re not. When they beat us, it’s a big deal. But we’re supposed to win.”

The salt. I can taste it. After winning seven of eight, WE’RE the one’s that are supposed to win.

And we do.

I think you missed the point. Those were Suzies words when our women beat Pitt the other day.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

The only positive note from the game was tydus. 12 points, 9 boards, and 7 blocks. Kid has a chance to be a big time player. We get a much needed 8 days off now. Hopefully chas will be ready to go soon.

Some more bad news per Sarah Spencer: per Dambrot, Eric James may have an MCL injury.

Everyone breathe...
1.  O'toole recruited those kids for a while.  He has been at Robert Morris.  Dambrot just got to Duquesne and recruited very, very late,  With these late recruits he almost beat Robert Morris.  This won't happen next year, or the year after, or for a while.
2.  Remember, we have two kids on the bench hurt.
3.  We knew what we had and that this was going to be a difficult year.

I hope everyone has a Blessed and Family Filled Thanksgiving!

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

Duq81 you are correct about Robinson, really he has simply not performed and he was the biggest guy out there - and how about getting that 3rd foul, what a blunder.  I hope Eric James isn't hurt, but the fact remains he basically contributed nothing when he was in there the first half - two bad traveling calls.  Good lord, Mike Lewis, what the hell happened to him.  Worst performance by him since he has been at DU and McConnell toyed with him both offensively, he couldn't guard him, and defensively - he couldn't shake him.  Say what you want about shorthanded, but that rebounding spread and the TO's were inexcusable.  We just flat out stunk and if you want to be fair we should have lost by 15.  The positive, Tydus is going to be really good and Williams just needs to limit turnovers a bit, but he is going to be really good as well.  Such a huge disappointment with this effort tonight.  Once again Bobby Mo sticks it to us, give them their due.  As Tomlin says, the record is the record.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

I would love to sit here and blow this off due to a short bench but a few very ugly facts became apparent in this game.  Against decent competition the horrible play of our guards will become more noticeable. Mike Lewis was totally shut down by Matty Mcconnell plain and simple. The Dukes had 2, please let that sink in , assists from their guards. RMU had 12 steals on horrible passes from these same guards the 20 total TO’s were very reminiscent of last year. Sure Williams had 6 of the 20 but I’ll put up with that from a Frosh. The Dukes upper class players were totally out hustled and outplayed. To get pounded on the boards like we did is a embarrassment.  Once we are healthy I would hope that the 3 guard line up we now show disappears and we play bigger. I also can’t make excuses for Robinson but don’t under estimate the fact that our guards did absolutely nothing to engage him in the offense. Trying to make entry passes into the post from near half Court doesn’t work.

Pretty much nailed it. Dambrot is playing 7 card stud trying to make the best hand of five with only two down and two showing.

I've only gotten to watch one game so  far this year, but I feel confident saying we haven't even scratched the surface of what Dambrot teams even look like. Keep the faith kids and trust the process.

That would be, "The standard is the standard". What a disappointment. We were clearly the better team, evidenced by the scoring margin vs rebounding numbers and free throws we left at the line.

This is going to happen this year. We are young, thin and working with just two big men that don't really play at the same time.

I saw Swingle and Rotroff at the game today. We are working on a shoe string roster full of young guys.

Chalk it up as a learning experience boys. That's all we've got tonight.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

BTW how bad do Ferry’s recruits look in comparison.  Unquestionably the Dukes best players are the Freshman.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

Dome, you did hit the nail on the head - and Ferry complained about what he got left.  Steve and 102 have valid points and KD needs time even with a healthy roster, which he doesn't have.  Hopefully we can have enough positives this year to keep everyone engaged as these types of loses are demoralizing to put it mildly.  Interestingly KD never came on the radio for the post game.  Think he is pissed???????.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

This is going to be a difficult season ,little quality depth,5 guys playing almost the whole game and lots of pressure on  our guards to make plays and play hard the entire game. Its a almost overwhelming job for
Dambrot to coach effectively. He has few options to make but try to motivate all the guys to keep playing hard.I thought Tydus was outstanding and Williams is afraid of nothing.Lots of potential.Great futures here.
Dukes were outmanned,we made a bunch of mistakes but still competed  and kept the game close.Forget
this losing to Robert Morris is a disaster. They were the better team .Be respectful.
I just shook my head when folks are thinking we are going to have a 500 season or better this year. I am looking for our players to play hard and improve.  We know a lot better things are in store in the coming years and the word of the day is patience .The next game we play is Cornell and the word or thought of
that gameday is loyalty to these players who are facing a tough season.

Re: Game Thread - Robert Morris - The County Game

they should fire Dambrot..... if JF can't beat them, then should just pay out the 6 million to keith.... zero points for mike lewis..... why is he coming off the ball.... he needs the ball in his hands to be a playmaker, he's not a kid who scores coming off staggers and fares..... JROB still sucks, doesn't matter who is calling plays on the sidelines. zero post presence. I understand two bigs our sidelined but if not interior points are scored there is no micah mason to save the team by hitting 3's
