Offline 12:30pm tip on Sunday 12/17/2017 at AJ Palumbo Center Offline 12:30pm tip on Sunday 12/17/2017 at AJ Palumbo Center One of the things that has driven me nuts during this four game win streak against these weak teams is the failure to keep those teams off the boards after missed shots. That's about all I have to complain about but there it is. Offline 12:30pm tip, the video broadcasts have improved to the point it is no longer distracting and Ray and Jarrett are in sync with the action. Also the free media stat cast gives all the important info, best used on breaks in action since it is always a play or two ahead of the video feed. Offline Defense has been excellent four and a half in. Night and day difference from the past. This team is already playing tough and hard nosed. Chas Brown is extremely physical in a good way. Gives the team an edge. Offline Our defense has been fantastic. Mike Lewis has been great too. Tough first half for Williams, probably his worst as a Duke. A&T's big guy is a player. Offline Six and a half minutes into the 2nd. They have scored 8 points. Gotta love it. Offline Gonna be another nice win. Another great defensive performance from the whole team, they are getting tougher and better every game. Led by the guards again offensively with a pretty decent all around shooting performance. Offline Getting better, fastest start at 7-3 since John Cinacola in 1974 I think. Offline Williams Jr didn’t shoot well but had 8 pts 12 boards ..7 offensive boards that were crucial.. he will be fine Offline five games, longest win streak since the 11 game one that got our hopes up in 2011 Offline Getting better, fastest start at 7-3 since John Cinacola in 1974 I think. We've had better starts than this since Cinicola. 7-0 in 1979-80 comes to mind, which became 9-1, and then 12-3. 11-3 in Ron's second year as well. Offline I really like the way Coach Dambrot has the Dukes playing defense. A&T was averaging over 80 ppg and the Dukes held them to 58. Go Dukes! Offline i think its supposed to be Coach D is off the best start for first year coach at 7-3 since Cincola... Now that sounds right. Offline [ I hate to play the "what might have been" card, but just think if they have the whole eleven man roster for the first part of the season, they probably win at least one of the three lossses, probably 2, and would actually be 8-2 or 9-1! Offline I really like the way Coach Dambrot has the Dukes playing defense. A&T was averaging over 80 ppg and the Dukes held them to 58. Go Dukes! And in the past, teams like these lower D-1 schools that recruit solely on quickness and getting to the hoop, WOULD score 70-80 points against us. I love throwing the press in there randomly. In the past we never pressed and when the time came that we had to press, we didn't know how. I love the way the big men switch out momentarily to double the man with the ball, then jump back. This is a great way to break up offensive sets and get the opponent out of their rhythm. The key is, the bigs have to switch back or their man is open for a lob and dunk. Thus far, our bigs have done very well here. Offline i think its supposed to be Coach D is off the best start for first year coach at 7-3 since Cincola... Now that sounds right. Hell just watching them actually put pressure on the ball handler in the back court made me feel good, as opposed to Jim Ferry's "let them waltz the ball up at their leisure" strategy last year. Offline Phildog I think you spelled "error" wrong. Offline Phildog I think you spelled "error" wrong. Two noticeable things that are direct evidence of Dambrot's great coaching abilities: 1) the discipline and improvement on defense; and 2) the significant improvement that each of the returning players has shown. Smith and Castro are starting to look like the talented transfers that we believed they were, and Jordan has looked much improved coming off the bench. Offline I was at the doubleheader yesterday. I couldn't bring myself to go to a men's game last year, but this year I've seen 6 already & have 4 games remaining in the 6-game package I purchased. The reason I'm engaged again is coz we have a coach who emphasizes defense. My amateur theory is that an offensive-oriented team finishes with pretty much the record it deserves, while a defensive team can steal a few wins. I thought yesterday was one of those times. I didn't think we did a whole lot very well yesterday other than play defense. At least that's what I saw with the naked eye; looking at stats later, we did some other things decently. But I thought the game was won on defense. Offline I was at the doubleheader yesterday. . I didn't think we did a whole lot very well yesterday other than play defense. . You are not alone, defense wins championships. keep them from scoring and the rest often takes care of itself. Remember in the days of the Steel Curtain, they were winning games 14-3 or 17-0, not 42-7. From what little I know about World Cup level soccer, several top notch teams like Germany are built on that belief.

Re: Game Thread - North Carolina A&T Aggies
A&T was significantly better than probably anyone else we have played. We are definitely improving on a game to game basis.
This was also the biggest (not counting students because of break) crowd I think so far, which is shocking with the other game going on in Pittsburgh today. Also by far the most engaged crowd, a fun atmosphere for an entertaining game.
The video board and in game has been improving as well. The band is great even with 6 or 7 kids. Kudos to the athletic department.
I caught myself smiling a lot today.
