Offline 70-62 Dukes! Offline Very nice win. Offline What an atmosphere and great DU crowd tonight, drowned out the traveling flyers who were represented well as always Offline We've been hard on brown recently, but he was a man out there today. Rene was his usual solid self as well. Happy for him. Offline Coach said after the game that Chas Brown is still playing on a broken foot (and a bum ankle). Offline Another outstanding defensive effort by Coach Dambrot's Dukes. I love these guys. What a change in mindset, not only in the players but in the fans. Down with just under 4 to go I KNEW the Dukes would bear down and win the game. What a pleasure to watch a fired up coach, ACTUALLY COACHING. "Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war". GO DUKES! Offline At one point (I think the last media timeout) with the lead and a close game, Dambrot ran out to the middle of the floor by the DU bench and started throwing his hands in the air trying to pump the crowd up. Offline I was watching the 1st half via the steaming A-10 site. Then had to drop. Offline Dayton kid dunked over Brown, then followed him up the court. By "followed," I mean he was in his face, trash talking, may even have made a bit of contact. Chas gave the guy a chest shove. Refs gave both guys Ts. Lewis sank his. Dayton kid missed both. Dayton didn't score on its inbound. We got the ball back and scored. I kept it vanilla on purpose. If you find it on the Internet, you'll see the difference it made. Just to add a couple in game notes: Offline It appears that Dukes stepped up defense under Dambrot is unsettling some of their opponents. It's amazing that some of the carryover players from Ferry are buying into a much more passionate defense under Dambrot-- a tribute to him. And they're playing better offensively as well! Interestingly Verhoeven sat for the 2nd half after he got his 4th foul -- [when he got under a driving Flyer... not sure he deserved that call]. Offline Jeremiah Jones was in the stands too which was cool to see. Offline My recap of this win which details a clear turning point and offers several thoughts. Excellent article by Zach. Giddy here for sure - long time season ticket holder and reader - what a great atmosphere last night. A great win. Only disappointment was that there were so many Dayton fans sitting in our A7 section that it was really uncomfortable. We pay a fee for those seats and it is frustrating to be surrounded by opposing fans. I realize that some are put on Stubhub but seriously? We got so frustrated that we went over to the student section. The silver lining was that we had a blast. I know this will change eventually but isn't there something that can be done? Offline My recap of this win which details a clear turning point and offers several thoughts. I watched the post-game Q&A with the 3 Duquesne players. Zach did very well in picking the most pertinent and insightful statements by the players and building the piece around them. No one around here cries when Steeler fans take over other stadiums. Hats off to Dayton for having such a good fan base. Excellent point duq81 a just frustrated at the lack of filled seats. But that will change. Happy New Year everyone! Offline According to duq81, instead of buying my 4 season tickets, I should just by on game by game basis. I would only have to buy the number tickets I need for that particular game and save $400.00 to boot. Great seats will still be available. People around here always brag about all of the Steeler fans at road games. I'm giving props to Dayton fans for what they do. There will always be Dayton fans at this match-up, whether it's at Palumbo, or PPG. Offline Why buy season tickets is my point. I could give a crap less about Steeler fans going to road games. If I can buy mid court seats a few days before a game, why buy season tickets ? Not to mention the extra $100.00 per seat if bought in the premium sections. That is probably what RedandBlueRUS1 is referring to. Offline Why buy season tickets is my point. I could give a crap less about Steeler fans going to road games. Duquesne fans currently don't occupy the lower level seats. In the future, the hope is that they will as the team experiences more success.

Re: Game Thread - Dayton Flyers
Can anybody provide context to the pushing between Brown & the Dayton player near the end of the first half?

That is Giannis Antetekompos little brother from the miluakee bucks. Usually a starter I thought, freshman. Didn't start tonight. Dunked over Brown and then ran down the floor two inches from his face chirping in his ear and brown shoved him.
Kid did not play one minute in the second half so safe to say Grant punished him for the action.

It certainly blows any "Coverage" ( never a game day story , and a mediocre at best recap - home games only ) by the local newspaper out of the water . Couple that with no real blog presence.
It will be interesting to see if the Post - Gazette coverage picks up as the season progresses if DU continues to perform and Pitt struggles a bit in ACC play.

In the meantime, we should take what we can get in terms of revenue.
I am currently a season ticket holder as well. I don't care if people that don't have seats fill up the lower level, it's better for the in game environment, that's why I buy tickets.
My money (which is cheap as hell for season tickets compared to anywhere else and so are your seats) is chalked up to a commitment to future success more than anything else. If you want more tell the athletic department to roll out the red carpet for you and have bouncers for your aisle. When people fill the seats you and I will both have an argument.
Until then show up and support your Dukes and the rest will come.
