Offline Let's just take a few breaths and remember a few things. We had knowledgeable and loyal board members here predicting as few as seven wins. Most said they estimated and hoped for, and would be happy with 12-15 (for the record my prediction was 15) victories as a step forward. Last edited by Tejas_Duke (1/13/2018 10:01 am) Offline This game is important though. The next 4 games are all quite winnable. Win all 4, and a winning record, and some postseason action will likely beckon. Probably need to win at least 3 of the 4 though. The last 10 games will be very tough, with the Dukes likely being favorites in only 2 of them, so we need to make hay now.
A little perspective before today's game...
Just show us progress and something to build on and hope for next year many of us thought and wrote.
And then, this season began with an OOC record beyond the wildest expectations of our most rose-colored lensed members (For the record, I nailed it 9-3 ahem.....) And then the boys went out and won their first three league games against decent to very good competition, including a convincing beat-down of a team that has been our nemesis for years, and a thorough thumping of a lesser sister.
A little wind was let out of the sails the other night, as a much deeper team overcame their scoring drought, while we did not survive ours and the Dukes lost their first league game.
A lot of people are building up this game today as something crucial, a hinge for the entire season, if you will. Let's just remember that today's game is not that.
I don't care if they lose today. I don't care if they lose by double digits to LaSalle. The season is still progressing well, beyond the hopes and dreams of about 90% of us on this board.
Dambrot has them on the upswing, improving every game.and much higher on the learning curve than we expected.
So in short, let's not get to giddy over a win and not start looking for open windows with ledges if they lose.
This is a fun season, incredibly fun, compared to the misery of just about all of the past five years combined. Let's enjoy that, enjoy each game and keep our perspective!
Let's Go Dukes!
