Only 46 days before the Dukes tip off their regular season vs. William and Mary.
Has anyone heard about any exhibition games vs D2/D3 or secret scrimmages vs D-1 that have been scheduled? I haven't heard a peep so far.

Just saw this... The NCAA must be allowing these charity scrimmages again this year.
The West Virginia University men's basketball team will host a charity exhibition game against Penn State inside the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 3. Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross' hurricane relief efforts.

According to Jeff Goodman, we will travel to Canisius and St. Francis.

Nice info, HookShot. Looks like Coach wants this team to come out ready for the opener by going on the road for 2 closed D-1 scrimmages.

If accurate, its good to get out on the road, even for meaningless, short trips. Get the freshman a chance to do a road trip before the ND game.

Goodman has been very reliable over the past few years reporting on these “secret” scrimmages.

Cool to see us scrimmaging teams that used to be on the regular schedule!

Tomorrow against Canisius. Who will be the first with some scoop on the scrimmage?
Offline
Saw a Canisius post and one of their posts “heard they did good” in scrimmage against us whatever that means
Offline
Hopefully that means that Canisius didn't do as bad as the score would indicate.

I cant find anything on this. nothing even comes up in searches.

Just noticed that post I saw says 2017. Sorry for the bad info - did we scrimmage them last year also?

Thanks, Zach. Are you referring to the canisius scrimmage or SFU?
Offline
SFU is the favorite in the NEC this year, so they're not terrible.

Zach's twitter feed said that this was the result from the Canisius scrimmage.

For what it's worth, KenPom 2019 has
DU at 171 and Canisius at 169--not surprising the scrimmage was close
Our favorite couple, Bill and Mary are at 128.

Especially on the road...

To be fair, Canisius was a good team last year. They finished tied for first in their conference (15-3) and won 21 games.

I like that we are scrimaging against teams that will test us, but not overwhelm us.

If Sarah has some info she didn't share it .
Meanwhile across town - Craig Meyer, on the Pitt B-Ball beat, has 3 nice sized articles in the print edition ( Preview of their game vs. those tough Youngstown State Penguins on 11.6.18 / info from "Secret Scrimmage" vs. Dayton , Preview of their game vs. those "mean UPJ what evers" , Game recap vs. "UPJ whatevers" ) on consecutive days. All this for a team coming off an 8 win season , a "shutout" in ACC play , and diminishing attendance at home games.
This will be my one and only comment on this situation as it has been going on ( with various "Reasons being given for the coverage - Pitt / lack of coverage - DU ) for many years. It appears that 2018-19 will be no different.
Peace out.

St. Francis is picked as the favorite to win their conference this year. Did some snooping but couldn't find anything on the scrimmage.

Per twitter, Duquesne won. Don’t know score.
