Mike’s gonna come out hot in 2nd half. I can only hope KD is capping his minutes early in the year.

Shooting is really letting us down. This is a very winnable game.

Take Williams out. My god.

There is no quit in this team. Love it.

Hey now!!!

Nice little Duquesne crowd behind the bench.

We’ve been totally out-hustled the last few minutes. Still nothing out of carry or EW. Need a bucket here or this one is over.

Wow, that fell apart quickly. Panic set in or something.
What is Weathers’ role?

I just don't understand why Lewis doesn't play during these crunch minutes. His shot alone is worth it even if his defense is lacking.

Haven’t scored in over five minutes...

Superior team just pulled away at the end I guess. What a total disappointment this was.

Lost by 11. There were lots of positives in the second half. TDM was great. Hughes and rotroff played well down low. Looked like we just ran out of gas in the last five minutes. Duquesne has to get better performances from its best players. Lewis, Williams, and carry didn’t show up tonight.

That ND team is weak. If KD wasnt playing cold players more than hot ones, who knows. But, 3-1 is probably what we all hoped for. I hope to see more Rotroff and Kelly and Norman moving forward. Lets get back to W column this weekend.
Lewis looked completely uninterested during the timeouts. He made a couple shots today. Curious whats going on there.

Too many missed 'bunny shots.' That's partly a function of young players need a bit more experience and the confidence that goes with it. It'll come eventually.

Just cold shooting tonight... Williams and Carry having even an average night would have made a difference.
I agree with Towson, Norte Dame is not a good team. They can play defense but they are beatable if the Dukes are on their game. They will not beat Pitt, Marshall or Penn State playing like this.
Only good thing about tonight is that the Dukes actually broadcast the game on a kind of "radio network". WJAS and 105.9 the X.

Got home from work in time to tune in for the last 5 minutes or so. Dukes up by 1 when I started watching. What a brutal stretch to see. Hope I was not what jinxed it. Well, have to move on to the next game. Hopefully team learns from this and comes back stronger.

Good game. They were in it the whole time. Should be good prep for the Pitt and Penn St games.

Not impressed at all with Coach Dambrot in game coaching, use of time outs and substitution patterns. Set plays are very weak, uses timeouts at the end of the game instead of during the game ending run of ND.Don't understand why and when he substituted. Another good mark of a coach is that players and teams improve as the season moves along or from year to year. Really have not seen much improvement from Lewis and Williams from last year to this year. As the season got older last season we got worse. Beside big Hughes not sure if transfers have gotten better. I know we are young, but we have to start to see improvements in individual players and team play.

ND is not that good, when they cooled off shooting they were highly beatable. EW was plain awful and although we don't rely on 2 guys this year, your "best player" can't go 1-11 and expect great results. If EW isn't hitting 3's he is limited offensively as he really hasn't developed his ball handling and driving to beat anyone off the dribble effectively. He is a good rebounder for sure, but when he's that off he shouldn't shoot as much. SC has had two really good games and now two bad games, we'll see how he progresses. I agree with Townson though, we need to see more of Rotroff, Kelly and Norman.

We got out-uglied by a bad Notre Dame team. Shot like crap, turned the ball over. Kept one of our best players on the bench in crunch time. All-round disappointing day.

Most Dukes fans would probably say our best player so far is Michael Hughes. In the "crunch time" you wrote of, he was already fouled out of the game. Some of our other best players have not stepped up to the level of play that made them our notion of "best players". Things are fluid right now, and there has not been consistency.
From late-first-half tonight until the last 5 or 7 minutes the Dukes outplayed the Irish. Is Notre Dame bad? Is that based on losing to a solid Radford team that couldn't miss their shots that day?

I guess I've been away from Dukes BB for a long time, but here's a few observations after 4 games.
1) The Dukes seemed much more comfortable going against man to man D. After ND, they better prepare to face a lot of zone.
2) Yes, there have been consistently strong efforts by a few Dukes, but I don't recall a team that has a different star each game who then went MIA in the next game(s).
3) Lewis appears to be persona non grata, almost like Daniel Sprong for the Pens. Despite the talent, coach apparently doesn't trust playing him. Surprisingly I don't see him as an impact player on this team any longer.
4) I have an illogical / indefensible desire to see much more of Gavin Bizeau. Yep I saw him "struggle" in his one chance. Strange Huh?
5) The Dukes won't be blown out very often and the program seems headed in the right direction, assuming they beat Pitt...lol. Going to enjoy the season.
Loving ESPN +

Maybe its my setup, but ESPN+ keep stopping and spinning, I had to refresh the page a good 10 times during the game. Had a HDMI cable to my tv, so after so many up/downs from my couch to the laptop, I gave up and just watched on PC.
I wish we could get some kind of answer on Lewis. I still hope KD is capping his minutes with plans on him playing A LOT come A10 time. Plus, KD needs to see the young guys play. But it is odd that he rode the pine most of the game last night, played 18 minutes. Could have used his shooting for sure.

Eric Williams can't keep shooting 1-10 and we hope to win. Against anyone.

Call me a "Glass half full" guy today.
Was dealing with potentially devastating health news from a good friend of mine all day, so was not all that excited over a college hoops game, but with that in mind, I look at it this way, they are 3-1, against much better teams than the usual HBCU schools they have beaten up on in the recent past, and have come from behind to win in three of the games (one game from way behind), and last night didn't fold when down double digits early. Jim Ferry's teams would have been 1-3 at best over this stretch. A bad shooting night, too many missed opportunities (especially down low) and a team that is still finding it's chemistry.
I guarantee there will be a game like this against a better opponent when we execute and they don't. That's basketball.
First loss of the season is out of the way, let's make it a long time before the next.
