7:00pm EST tip on Friday 11/30/2018 at the PPG Paints Arena. Probable Starting Fives I think the key to the game is simple. Can we control Xavier Johnson? If he gets to the hoop, dishes off after penetration, and disrupts us defensively, it will be hard to win. The second key to me is: can we beat them up inside? Go Dukes! Last edited by HookShot (11/30/2018 1:24 pm) Hoping Lewis has a break out game with 4 or 5 three's leading us to a win and him to a hot stretch. i see the line is 3.5 some places. I thought it would have went up, but its either steady or going down a bit. townsonkid, as duq81 and I were talking about in another thread, the line opened at 4½; was bet up to 5½ with Pitt/ACC bias and then we anticipated that smarter money would come in to bring the line down - which it has to 3½. I think it will settle here or at 4 points. the smaller the spread the easier it is for me to bet it. :-) the smaller the spread the easier it is for me to bet it. :-) Yeah, it's hard to really know how good either team really is. We know they're both better than last year, but how much better is yet to be determined. I'm looking for Mike Lewis to have a big game tonight and their freshmen to make more mistakes than ours resulting in a close Dukes win. Got off to a hot start but have been ice cold ever since. Gotta heat back up' Where is Weathers? Where is Weathers? Sick Where is Weathers? Sick Shoot him up and get him in there. Dunn-Martin kept us in there. Sure could use something from Lewis. Played decent down the stretch with the exception of the final two drives. Down three at the half. And Bill Murray hits the alarm clock, playing Sonny and Cher again. I still don't know why I ever get my hopes up for this game because we always see the same depressing scene at some point in the first half. So sloppy. Mike Lewis needs to take over. This is ugly. This is ugly. We cannot get anything going on offense at all. There’s no rythm in this game at all. ...and lets piss away three or four posessions early in the second half when we can make a difference........ Hughes 7 for 8 rest of team 7 for 34. ...and let's miss a lay up on a 2 on 1 break when you should have passed the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is hard to watch tonight. Everyone is out of control. The youth is really showing tonight.

Dukes should be able to hold their own inside against this team, which is a rarity in this series. I am a bit concerned though with defending the 3 against their bigger guards. Wilson-Frame has cooled off but was 15-of-27 from 3-point range in Pitt's first three games (only 1-for-6 in last year's game, his only PPG Arena appearance), McGowens was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc against Iowa after struggling from long distance before that, and Johnson can make 3s though he doesn't attempt that many. Dukes averaging better than 9 steals per game. Forcing turnovers and getting easy buckets in transition should go a long way towards bringing the City Game Trophy back to the Bluff.

Is it wrong to bet on pitt, thinking that if we win, so what I lose some cash, it wont compare to beating them.
And if they cover, I enjoy the $.
There is a small area of complete darkness there, they win by 1-3 pts

I really cant get a feel for this game, it can be a double digit win for either team or could be a final possession kind of game.

Re: Game Thread - Pitt Panthers
Dukes go something like 2-15 from the floor while Pitt goes 8-9, PItt hits their free throws while we miss ours and too many stupid, stupid, stupid, (did I mention stupid) turnovers in the paint.
I hate this game.
