I'm watching Twitter while the game's going on and the parents of one of our players is apparently having to listen to some over-zealous criticism of their son. Kid's a freshman. He's good, and he has a great future ahead of him, but apparently a couple students who don't appear to be varsity lettermen think they know better.
Second time in two games I've been embarrassed by our own fans. If I'm hurting anyone's feelings, tough titties.
Let's not suck, folks.

We have students who follow the games?

Yeah, that's how ED was able to hear them. :-) Like when I went to that Rice game about ten years ago

Well if they read this thread we might not have any more students following the Dukes.

Hmm - I sit surrounded by the friends and family of the players and didn't hear anything negative about any of the kids today. That isn't to say it didn't happen of course.
ETA - oh - online criticism. ick.

It was parents of one of our players. They were at the game. They tweeted during the game.

I saw the Tweet as well, but only hours after the game. I was at the game and my seats are maybe 8-10 rows behind some of the players parents. I didn’t hear anything obvious; but could have missed it. Just saying that this is a section that often has a lot of “comp” tickets, with some season ticket holders mixed in. I don’t think many students sit in this section, other than team members from other Duquesne sports teams. I did see our newest signee and his family just behind me yesterday. Most comments I heard yesterday were clearly aimed at two of the referees who so richly deserved criticism.
I have spoken out strongly on this board against direct and personal criticism of players. These guys are working hard every day to get better and represent Duquesne with a winning team. They deserve all the support we can give them. As I said previously; just imagine that it is your son, brother, or friend on the court.

Not only that, but I've refrained from booing college players or criticizing them harshly on the internet, keeping in mind that they're college students, not paid professionals. They're preparing for their career just like I was as an accounting major. Booing or criticizing a player for a bad play would be like booing me for getting a question wrong on a test or in the classroom. The only difference is that the student-athletes take their "tests" in front of several thousand fans at the game & however many more who watch on TV.

Focus your anger on these awful officials and not on players trying to work hard out there.
That was some of the worst officiating I have seen yesterday. So many blown calls directly affecting plays not going the Dukes way. Wrong possession calls, Missed fouls on shooters, Missed travels and offensive fouls.
