Wasn't crazy about how the team attacked the pressure, but was glad to see the coaching staff make the adjustments and really stop EKU's offense. TDM had a really nice game, and EWJR was not going to let the team lose.
I thought BWade had his best showing as a Duke this time out.

The switch to the 1-3-1 zone, in my opinion, was the key to this win.  
 

In his post game, Coach said he went with the better ball handlers this game. That's why Wade and not Norman and Lewis.

KD will regularly play 11. The last at 3 will get about 5 to 10 minutes. Shortening the bench probably means the starters get more minutes and there are only 11 getting playing time.

As for Weathers, he apparently has a block right now at the foul line, and mental blocks can usually be worked out. The guy shoots a 3 now and then, and if he wasn't capable of shooting those, he would be warned off of doing that. So the foul line should not be a problem. 

He has been missing some chip shots from the floor - sometimes because of uncalled fouls. He seems athletic, and should be able to get locked in on those shots with more game action. 

Nope, he didn't get out-coached today - got rid of some stubbornness today and used a zone - I agree - it was a strong "defense" pun intended in the game that helped us win.  Third one like that this year.  The crowd was also loud...though we didn't even hit 
2,000.  Maybe next Year!!!  Hopefully during A-10 play more students will come.

Thought it appropriate, in view of comments on players and defenses used, to re-visit my early October practice observations:[b][b]Here is what I know after having the privilege to observe a practice session.  In past years, I have always noticed one or two Dukes who appeared to be outstanding to me.  The reason should have been obvious to me, but wasn't.  THE REST OF THE TEAM STUNK!!!  I did not see any one player who stuck out like a sore thumb.  The reason is now obvious to me.  This team is that good!!!  I will not be surprised if ML does not start.  Sincere Carry is that good!!!  Nothing has changed to the negative in Eric Williams' game.   

The Freshmen bigs are as advertised.  Look for Austin Rotroff to be a contributor.  He appears to be a legit two-way player.  Look for Marcus Weathers to be a force at the 4.  Look for Mike Hughes to start at PF/C. Look for a lot of kids to get playing time.  Look for quickness in our inside game as opposed to pure footspeed.  Look for a full court press defense.  Look for 1/3/1/and 2/3 zones. Things have change a lot.     I saw a lot that I liked.  IMO this team will be good or very good.

I hope my report whets the hoops appetites of our faithful.

I don’t think he’s been mentioned yet, but I thought Frankie played a nice game yesterday. Hit a few big threes, and played good defense all day.
