Please try not to take offense to my comments regarding the just-concluded the win over LaSalle, picked to finish last in the A-10: Ugly game but a win is a win. LaSalle is a poor scoring offense so they decided to shoot every chance they got. The Dukes D did not adjust. Thankfully, LaSalle could not make free throws and it cost them the game. The Dukes did not shoot well. The passing was replaced once again by too much dribbling which caused a number of turnovers and too many forced shots. I also do not understand the forward situation. The two best post players are Lass and Sole but they rarely play together. It is time to put the five best players on the floor. Omogrosso, Bazelak and Voynivic need to round out the starting five. Bring Richardson, Kalin and Cannon in off the bench. The team needs continuity. Still need O chemistry and D zones to protect the middle. Another win which is good. As the men’s coach continually says, keep getting better. Really good point - they are tied for first place. So, all is not all bad. Go Dukes! Last edited by HookShot (1/23/2019 11:12 pm) ANY AND ALL WINS ACCEPTED - NO QUESTIONS ASKED It's been that kind of year for the ladies- They trailed most of the game - Final margin was 4 and needed 2 free throws by Libby with 1.2 seconds to get it there. Still league is REALLY topsy-turvy - VCU (previously unbeaten in league play) falls to GW (next up for the Dukes)

La Salle game
What I liked-
Kadri-Ann came alive in the last quarter and asserted herself offensively and defensively. Although she missed a clutch free throw near the end, she hit a couple of big shots and played strong defense against their post.
For such limited minutes (11), Sole was effective: 2 of 4 field goals; 6 points and 6 rebounds. Sole was constantly calling for the ball. She got very few touches.
Problems-
Defensively, Duquesne could not stop their guards from penetrating, and making twisting moves to the basket, or penetrating and passing to a player for an easy lay-up. Their athleticism and quickness trumped Duquesne's man defense. Duquesne continues refusing to play zone to minimize their penetration. This baffles me. As I said in a previous post- why does Oregon (ranked 5th in the country), Stanford (ranked 6th) and Oregon State (ranked 9th) occasionally go to zone? Anyone want to venture an answer?
Why did Sole and Lass not play together? La Salle's bigs were getting offensive rebounds - going over the Duke's less-quick, less-athletic players. Sole is a big body and she gets good position for rebounds.
To end on a positive note, the Dukes notch their 4th A-10 win in a row and are 5-1 in conference play.
Go Dukes!

AND as both Sperlman and Hook Shot mentioned the League Record is still VERY POSITIVE!!
Hopefully a better turn out than normal on Sunday when they retire April's Number and the team (especially the 4 seniors) can put together a performance that will make their old team mate proud.
BEAT GW!!!
