wow!!!!!

Ladies won 85-58!!!  Probably the FIRST time all year (at least at home)  That Julianna was in "Steph Curry Mode" She knocked down some 3's that were absolutely ridiculous -  First half was close (DU lead by 1 -  Coach Burt was warned at the half as he was pretty heated over some calls at the end of the half)  Second Half was ALL DU - just about EVERYONE played well -  Halle only tried ONE shot (if I'm not mistaken) but battled pretty well against some bigger and stronger opponents -  Chas started off well then cooled off - Libby started slow and then really game on (think she had close to 10 rebounds) came up with a couple of steals - and it seemed like some "LOOSE BALLS" - said to themselves "I"M GOING TO HER!!!!"

Would be nice to see them keep it going on Thursday MORNING!!!

Re: wow!!!!!

Officiating was absolutely brutal today. I am stunned that Coach Burt and Dayton's coach didn't get tossed today given their legitimate complaints.

How do you blow a breakaway play dead to T up a coach?

Re: wow!!!!!

This is a good momentum win right here!  Just need to keep the momentum going all the way to the end of the year.  It was good to see Lass have a really good game. Go Dukes!

Re: wow!!!!!

Easily the best performance as a team today. One of the game balls goes to a player who did not score but was everywhere on D. Halle Bovell was on the floor, covering all spots from the post to out on the floor. Her hustle ignited others. Juca Vojinovic broke out of her shooting woes in a big way. Kadri Lass was confident and huge. Laia Sole was strong and went toward the basket. By hitting two threes early, Chas Omogrosso forced Dayton to mirror her opening up others. The team really moved as a unit together on both O and D. Great effort in the face of terrible officiating. If this team shows up as energized as they were today, the rest of the league is in trouble. Great work today.

Re: wow!!!!!

Libby had 10 Rebounds - (box score was not posted at time of my initial post)

In addition she spent most of the time guarding Canatelli (Dayton's best shooter) Canatelli was 3-11 (although she did get to the line frequently mostly due to blocking fouls on just about everybody)  Libby also guarded Fordham's best shooter (Cavanaugh) and if I'm not mistaken even though Fordham won easily at the end - CAVANAUGH DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE FIELD GOAL (or maybe she had one)

WOULD be nice to see her workload (30-35 minutes per game go down some) but >>>>

Glad to see someone else giving credit to Halle when she didn't score -

Re: wow!!!!!

I only saw the first quarter (I'm on the West Coast and was going to see another game), but so happy for the team and coaches with their impressive win over a traditionally difficult opponent.

Statistically, what I liked was scoring inside as well as outside.  As most or all of you know, that balance has been the Dukes' success formula over the past several seasons,  Only question I had was why so few minutes for Sole, who looked effective in the first half- but perhaps some of you might know the answer.

Big win!

At a couple of the Coach's chalk talks this season, including yesterday, Dan said that Sole really needs to hit the weight room & develop the leg strength to go against the post defenders in the A-10.  He didn't come right out & say so, but the implication is that for now she is perceived as somebody who can only give us a few minutes here & there.  She'll be expected to hit the weights this offseason.
