Gonna try to follow along from work on ESPN. Looking to keep this ship on the right track in the back half of A10 play Alright, something weird is happening at Palumbo. This game is 4 minutes old and 3 players have left the game clutching their ankle. Kalin and Lass are hurt Lass has seen the floor again as well as the SLU player hurt earlier. Shots are falling, Dukes look good on offense. Kinda slow getting back on D to start off the 1st period Kalin is back too so that's cool That was disappointing Another disappointing performance. My thoughts- This is a game that somehow slipped away. There was no intensity in the building. That was mirrored by the team. The hand-off offense had its moments, but we were better when the ball was passed inside. Laia Sole was very good today. The defense was too spread out and SLU took advantage of a mismatch and late coverages. Down 11 in the 4th quarter, the Dukes rallied to tie, but Defense didn’t hold in the last minute. In a decently officiated game, a horrendous call at the end, killed the Dukes last chance. Tough fact - we can beat anyone in the league, but we can lose to anyone. Re: Saint Louis
What was good- Sole got quality minutes and she produced.
Question- When Dan had Amadea, he would start Lass and Amadea and have an effective high/low post action going. Obviously Sole can score down low. Why does Dan play Sole and Lass together so seldom?
The bad- Porous defense once again gave the opponent too many poorly contested drives to the basket or free throws. The team lacks the athleticism to play the kind of defense scheme they're playing. Why does this continue, especially in A10 play?
Too many times Duquesne's guards tried to make high-degree-of-difficulty shots in the lane when they lack the athleticism to pull them off. This has been a season-long trend. My only conclusion is they are given permission by the coaches to do this.
Was hoping the stellar performance against Dayton would carry over to this game, but (sadly) it didn't.
This was a winnable game, but I believe Lisa Stone outcoached Dan on this one.
