Per Jerry DiPaola: Duquesne point guard Sincere Carry, who leads the A-10 in assists per game (5.8), did not practice Friday morning while resting his ailing knees. May or may not play Saturday at Palumbo vs. GW. KD said he would pace Carry until the end of the season I’d dress him but he’d sit on the bench most of the game and TD would play most of his minutes. Hence my question about if we are OK at PG. I expected that this would be a problem for tomorrow. He just needs to get some sustained rest; and that’s tough to do at this point in the season. Westender that is why I agreed with you in other thread that PG depth is or can be a problem. We can't afford to just hope that SC's knees hold up. I certainly hope so, but we have to be prepared if not. Westender that is why I agreed with you in other thread that PG depth is or can be a problem. We can't afford to just hope that SC's knees hold up. I certainly hope so, but we have to be prepared if not. The problem is, what decent pg is going to come here, knowing that if Carry stays healthy, he won't play much. It's a tough spot. There is a week off after the GW game, so I wouldn't be surprised if KD has Sincere in the game for longer than is predicted. There is a week off after the GW game, so I wouldn't be surprised if KD has Sincere in the game for longer than is predicted. The opposite could be very well be true. Dambrot could treat this game like lots of coaches treat media timeouts. A two minute rest is good, but if you take a player out just before the media timeout you can get him a few minutes extra rest. Seven days of rest is good for an aching, fatigued player in the heart of conference season, but if he sits out the game before, it can be ten days. To compound TDM is still wobbly. I believe he had over 20 against VCU when Carry was out. Carry is going to play, this is a winnable game that Dukes need to win and Carry is as tough as they come. Second guessing here ....is Swingle that much of a project that he could not have been inserted when Rotroff went down? If he has any moxie we might have had a few more rebounds and maybe win a game or so more.... Ellis will come in September and Rotroff probably not until January of 2020. Swingle could have been gaining some experience and maybe helping the team this year.....No? I saw Swingle play in high school and he stood around a lot.If he could do what Hughes did and reduce his body fat and change his body and be in good shape he would be difficult to handle on the low post.Nice touch around the basket and good free throw shooter. I think he could be good and he is a good person. Second guessing here ....is Swingle that much of a project that he could not have been inserted when Rotroff went down? You think the coach should have had him give up a developmental redshirt year so that the team could have possibly won an additional game this year? I'll go with no. It would have been tremendously unfair to him, and would not have been beneficial for the Dukes in the long run. Coach recognized that Swingle has skills (good hands, nice touch, and of course he is very strong), however, coach also recognized that he needed a year to transform his body and get in condition to help this team next year and beyond. To all accounts that is happening, and he will be a solid contributor next year Here is a nice article on Swingle. And they should prescribe just what practice time he needs to get by without stressing his knee. In the off season, find exactly the best course for this young man to both heal and progress. SC could take this team to places we have not been lately. I hope the coaching staff keeps his best interest in mind.

Re: Carry Questionable for GW Game
to have him ready for the tournament
GW is a weak team and the game is at home.
Make sense not to practice him.

The fact that this is a chronic problem; doesn’t bode well for the future. Sincere can be a dynamic player; but playing 35-40 minutes per game does not seem to be practical. As good as Sincere can be; we will need a top-notch point guard who can run the show successfully for significant minutes per game. I think TDM’s offense is stifled when playing the point; so I think we need another option.

The guy is a winner and he gets a week of rest after GW game. There is no one who come remotely close
to taking over at PG.position.
This team desparetly needs to limit GW to one shot, control the boards. If the rebounding is good the Dukes win easily.Dukes would be at the top if they rebounded.
