Offline An update on Duquesne HS recruit Bernarda Rreshpja, from Albania, but who played her senior HS season @ Valley Christian Academy in the greater Sacramento CA area. Offline Dan informed me that there were a number of (USA) coaches at the last FIBA-U18 tournament, but Albania performed so badly that Rreshpia (who plays on the national team), didn't really get much notice. Offline THANKS for the update - With four players who have seen significant action over their careers leaving - the team will need SOME contributions from the incoming freshman class - Hope somehow Nina will be 100% from Day one and stay healthy - Staff has indicated one of the four freshmen will be red-shirted - Wonder what will happen to Enika's scholarship - If they feel there is a JUCO or graduate transfer out there who can help immediately - if there is an unsigned (or player who might be changing her mind due to a coaching change) that the staff likes - or if they will hold off and use it next year.
UPCOMING MEN'S GAMES:
S.D. State @ Duquesne - Nov. 24- 1:30 PM
Bernarda Rreshpja
Rreshpia finished her season scoring 797 points (26.5 PPG), 4th highest scoring average among California HS girls and 31st nationally. She is a big combo guard (listed anywhere from 5'10 to 6'0) who can score in the paint (the kind of player Duquesne has needed), rebound, (and most impressively)- score from NBA 3-point range.
I may be proven wrong on this, but Bernarda could be a 'sleeper' prospect who (because she has played in a small division league and because she only came to the U.S. this past season), played 'under the radar', not noticed by the well established Div. 1 schools- but Dan scooped her up. Very encouraged.
Re: Bernarda Rreshpja
Rreshpia will need to work on some things when she gets to Duquesne, but Dan believes she has a huge upside; that the Dukes got a good one.
Very encouraging. •Thread Starter
