1) upcoming ncaa bb regional host site. Planning in full swing. He's done it before. Bad time for upheaval.
2) he's the lightning rod to give cover to everyone else. When he shuts down sports, it is not on his own whim. The Board blessed the action. The Pres agrees. Thats how businesses work. To even think he'd have that much autonomy is ridiculous given the tight hold duq operates under.
3) the tight hold...its hard to find an AD whipping boy who will not force a lot of demands and heed the powers. GA is this person.
4) no way duq will pay any part of a contract for an early separation.
5) he knows where bodies are buried. He'll need to leave on his own accord.
6) his wife works for a Board member. Not really an influence but it is a little close to home.
7) Who'd want to come to duq? A Div II AD or a lesser Asst AD or small conf AD? Not good enough for the first reason above.
8) SMS departure has zero impact on GA. The next hire will show the university's level of commitment. Hires must pass the CD test.
9) He's a perfect Neal Huntingdon. He knows the rules. He knows the limitations. He knows what not to ask. He knows how to put a good spin on thing and manage a small budget.
10) admin never listens to the alums so why start now.

Get ready for the chips and soda meet & greet this fall. Can't wait.
