Is it possible that an injured player would leave school for a year to give 100% to getting completely healthy and return the following year. I can't think of a time where this ever happened anywhere so I'm thinking this must not be permitted. It would be a good way to open up a scholarship and not have an injured player showing up in street clothes. Just something that crossed my mind. Theoretically, yes, that's possible. Olympic athletes do it all the time, drop out of school to train fulltime, then return to their college programs without losing any eligibility (though they do lose a year of eligibility completion time). Whether the NCAA allows it specifically for injury rehab or other cases, I'm really not sure. Practically speaking, I don't think it makes much sense. The player would delay receiving his degree and would be free to transfer elsewhere without sitting out once fully rehabbed. This forum is hosted for free by Boardhost. Create your own free forum!
