Maine

Maine has won their last two game beating Siena (72-66) and Northeastern (76-73) on the road.  The Dukes need to come ready to play.  A  2:00 game hopefully will draw a decent crowd.

Re: Maine

Interesting note on Maine. Of the 15 players on the roster only 5 are from the U.S.A. That's gotta be a record. Looks like they've got it turned around after losing the  first 4. Could be another nailbiter.

Re: Maine

10 minutes to start of game. 5 students here and maybe 250 people. Not exaggerating!

The band is really good this year.

About 75 students at tipoff.  The new introductions of the players with the video board is a big improvement over last year.

Abele is a fan favorite. Good first half.

Re: Maine

Great team effort today.  Jeremiah Jones & Kadeem were terrific.  How about the outstanding  drive by Kadeem for a score?

Re: Maine

Kadeem played a great second half.  Very entertaining game.  He was also great in the post game interview on the ride home.  We have some impressive student athletes.   I do like the way everyone contributed.

I do have to say if it takes 7 minutes to review the replay plus another 5 to discuss it, how flagrant could the foul on PJ have been?   It always seems we get these replays out of nowhere to eject players.

LOL Good point.  Our freshman are keepers. Now we have to find a way to beat Pitt.

Re: Maine

For the last several years I've thought Point Guard is the most important position on the team - so it was good to see others step up when 2:41 into the first half our PG had 2 personal fouls.Maybe we can start calling Winters "Instant Offense"  took him a while to get going but he can score points in bunches!!!!!

Re: Maine

Enjoyed Sean wanting the ball at the end.  Enjoyed the Dance Team - still AWESOME, though it looks like the cheerleaders slipped a notch!
What a difference in Abele - you can really see someone has been working with him.

Re: Maine

Looks like my new thread post wasn't accepted by the admins(?). Google Hofstra BB and 4 of their players in jail on larceny including theft from coaches house.

Thx ED.  I will be a better fan this go around. I like Ferry and RE grated on every single solitary nerve in my body.

Re: Maine

PJ repeateldy got pushed & taunted by the kid from Brooklyn and i thought his 'gentle elbow' back didn't warrent ejection.

Re: Maine

Wondering if anyone knows what has happened to Derrick Martin. Haven't seen hide nor hair of him for several games. Is he hurt or just not playing well enough to get any minutes?

Re: Maine

When I listen to the pregame report he was not listed as injured.

Perhaps he is gently being given a hint that his services are no longer needed on the Bluff.

Re: Maine

Martin is not strong. I don't see him playing much this year. If he transfers at the end of the year, will there be criticism of Ferry just like there was of Ron?

Re: Maine

I doubt it. One transfer from a player the coach did not recruit is very different from what we have seen recently. Now, if one of Ferry's recruits this year transfers then criticism is justified.

Re: Maine

At one point I really thought that Abele would be the one player on the roster who would be of no help this year, but it appears that I was mistaken. Martin looks like that player now. Very disappointing as I really expected more from him.

Re: Maine

I share your sentiment about Derrick Martin. His shot blocking ability is very good and he has an okay baseline jumper. I really hope he is bulking up at the gym and eating cheese burgers. I have always said he needs to get a mean streak. Someone steal his girlfriend or something. Just kidding.

Re: Maine

Abele was brought in by RE to shut the pie holes of those who knocked the program for failing to get another Ricky Lopes.  Ron had zero interest in Abele we all know that.  Maybe Abele got fit after learning that Ferry would use him.
