Defense still remains my biggest concern. I think the Dukes will fare well against lesser opponents; but can they choke the life out of equal or better opponents by getting those 3, 4 or 5 consecutive defensive stops when big games are on the line? Right now, I don’t see that. Hope I’m wrong.

In Dambrot's third season I expected significant improvement, but I don't see it happening. 20 wins is nice but that OOC schedule is ridiculously easy with no true road games on top of it.(No true home games either)  WVU is picked to finish at the bottom of the Big 12 and we were never really in the game. Offensively, I didn't see any offensive movement, guards dribbling out in front, trying to create for themselves or then passing when in trouble. Guards picking up their dribble and not knowing where to pass. A lot of ill advised shots. No picks or screens off the ball except the high screen and roll. I understand Weathers was in foul trouble which forced coach to go with two bigs, if we don't have two bigs on the floor we are going to get killed on the boards. Do not see much improvement on defense, WVU shot open threes and after we scored a few times they went down the other end and got easy lay ups. Just like last season. If feel Harper and Gormley have given coach what he needs to be successful, easy OC schedule, no true road games, investment in the Cooper Center and much more. It is time for coach to step up his game. On a positive note, I liked what I saw in Buckley and Steele.

WVU was picked 5th out of 10 teams in the Big12.  Lunardi has them in a play-in game against Dayton.  So, I don't want to put words in your mouth, but it appears like perhaps you are underestimating the opponent.  If you want to make the NCAA Tournament, these are some of the games you need to win.  But, this was also exhibition so I don't want to read a ton into it.  We are also missing Rotroff and Kelly who figure to be key pieces to our inside game by the time A10 play rolls around.

Yep! He has a high opinion of the B12. He has Dayton two spots ahead of WVU, and Davidson two spots behind, meaning that he thinks those two would be at the bottom of the B12, and that WVU would finish second in the A10.
