Re: Game Thread - Radford Highlanders

SO MANY TIMES in the past where if we were cold from 3 we were at a big disadvantage, even in some of the better years. Now we are showing presence inside. Fantastic!

I didn't hear that. Did he say where? I haven't been able to find any information on the tournament going back to when it was announced we were playing in it. I'm curious if the tournament worked out a deal with someone to broadcast all the games or if someone picked up our games since we are playing so well.

If we're not careful teams are going to stop overlooking us.

I doubt anyone is overlooking us at this point.

Re: Game Thread - Radford Highlanders

Game ball of course to Marcus.  He was a virtual beast today.  Fueled by some beautiful assists by Sin and Maceo, Radford had no answer for him on offense, and on defense he dominated the boards. Every game a different hero, I love it.  I also really like post game interviewed Marcus gave.  He is very mature and well spoken.  He said this team is focused, and approaches the games with a business like attitude. I am really glad the players don't read this board, and the incessant trepidations express some of the fans here.

The Dukes were again suffocating on defense.  The Dukes struggle with three point shooting at times, but our inside play,  and the terrific defense the Dukes play makes this team exceptional, and will carry (no pun intended) them a long way in the A10.

Go Dukes 9-0

Re: Game Thread - Radford Highlanders

Our defense is simply incredible. I know we lose steele next year but it's pretty exciting to know our entire starting 5 returns.

That has me very excited.

Re: Game Thread - Radford Highlanders

Can anyone remember Red Manning wearing plaid? This team is taking us deep into the "lore" , if i spelled it correctly, of the soul of Duquesne in terms of winning n talent level

Re: Game Thread - Radford Highlanders

A fun road trip with a couple of friends today and then meeting more friends at the game.

I was worried about a let down after the crushing of Columbia but it was followed up by a routing of Radford.

The defense was again suffocating and held Radford under 50.  As the minutes wound down and it was a certain win our conversation turned to can they hold Radford under 50 and we though it unlikely as the bench would be emptied.  The bench was emptied and they still held Radford under 50.  Very satisfying!

The offense is sharing the ball and taking advantage of what's available.  Unselfish offense and strong defense equals winning and that's what the Dukes are doing.

It's time for the skeptics to get on board the bandwagon.  "Next year" is now.

Re: Game Thread - Radford Highlanders

I listened to the game today. Just killed me to not see it, but Ray is so good at covering the game it's almost like being there. Most impressive is the total team defense. It's not common to hold teams down like this. Not unless you are really good as a team on defense.   Most predictions each game does not anticipate this defensive effort from Duquesne.  The Dukes scoring again is spread out.  This team will continue to be very hard to prepare for. Who do you try to stop? How do you prepare for this defense?  Plus a very impressive deep bench.  And all of this with no home court advantage.  This season is starting to look like something special.
