Anyone else watching Dayton SLU? This has been an absolute slug fest. SLU up 1 2 mins left in OT.

Good result for the Dukes, IMO.

SLU doesn't get that huge signature win and had their crack at UD on their home floor. Dukes get their chance soon. Our 14 point win over SLU should get at least a little bump, metric wise with this game going OT.

Amazing barrage of threes from Dayton to rally and pull that out. However, SLU showed that if you take the fight to them physically, you have more than a chance. Dayton seemed bothered by SLU's physicality on the boards and in the half court during the first half.  SLU's usual pathetic FT shooting burned them. With a 60 some percent effort, they probably still hang on to win despite the late flurry from deep by UD. Dayton's definitely tough to guard beyond Toppin with their shooting and constant movement side to side.

Toppin did a great job staying in the game with 4 fouls, great points! Wasn’t sure if the result was good or bad for us.

For those who better understand the NCAA bracket projections, was a UD win better or worse for us? Had SLU won, I would think that would prop up our win over the Billikens significantly? Or would it negatively affect us because these bracketologists still have them ahead of us? Not sure...

Regarding tough to guard behind Toppin; Watson, Cohill, and Landers are all big time NCAA players. I hope/think we can get in the tourney this year, but Dayton has the pieces to go deep in the tourney.

Announcers said this was their highest ranking this late in the season since 60’ something.

Well, Dayton played UCLA in the Championship Game in 1967, so they were likely highly ranked that year.

This was the best result tonight. A close SLU loss gave SLU a bump in the metrics, giving us a small bump, without hurting Dayton's. No matter what happens, a win over Dayton is what would propel Duquesne to at-large territory, and the better Dayton is the  better our chances. A SLU win wont carry us the same way Dayton can. (It's also one more team with 2 losses that the Dukes now have a 2 game lead for the double bye)

For the conference as a whole, the A10 probably was rooting for a close SLU win because that would considerably boost their own at-large chances while only mildly diminishing Dayton's

That 24-6 would definitely get us in the NIT.  If we can win our first two tournament games we would be in.  No worries about sneaking in or what others are doing.

Since 1982, 46 A-10 teams have entered the conference tournament with less than seven losses. All 46 made the NCAA tournament.

25 wins almost always earns a bid from the A10.

In the history of the conference (including the Eastern 8), 38 teams have gone to Selection Sunday with at least 25 wins. All 38 made the NCAA tournament.

Impressive research. Thanks for the effort.

Looks like Joe has kicked us out entirely--not even "First Four Out or "Next Four Out." We'll just have to prove him wrong!

He had us as an automatic qualifier because we were in first place. You don't have to be an at large caliber team to be an automatic qualifier. Our power rating is still below the at large level. It will rise quite a bit if we win the next three games.
