Chapter 1 Last edited by FAM (1/31/2020 9:50 am) I echo those sentiments completely. If we hadn't been through the dark years we wouldn't appreciate this year as much. Dambrot has make huge strides with the program. Sure there is still more room for improvement, but it's an exciting time to be a Duquesne fan. We got a peek last year at the potential the team has. If I remember correctly we were 4-0 in games we trailed by 18 points. This team hasn't been quite as streaky, but it's still ranked as one of the most inconsistent teams in the country in the Haslam ratings Phoenix always posts for good reason. If Dambrot can figure out how to eliminate the bad stretches and get the team to regularly play to their potential they can be damn good. I'll admit this is a horribly cherry-picked stat, but except for an eight minute stretch we outscored a top 10 team by 10. This team has the potential to do great things. Hopefully they will, but it has been fun and is exciting even if they don't. Bi Polar diagnosis
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)

It’s Now About Coaching
For those of you who went to BB Games when Jim Satalin coached, you may recall that he would have done even better if it wasn’t for the serious issue that happened. Anyhow, one of the things I really liked that he said (as you know, he was successful at St. Bon.) was that when he recruited players, he would go out and find the really good ones that no one else saw. He would see when they would have a really good game and how many. He got these off the radar kids and his philosophy was that if they did this once or twice...he knew that it could be duplicated.
Chapter 2
Yes, I, like many of you suffered through the Danny Née years and Jim Ferry who blamed everyone but himself. At one point he implied that it would take him 7 years to turn around the program. I was so ticked I gave up my season tickets until he was let go. Then we got DAMBROT.
Chapter 3
He has made a positive impact on the team. He still needs better players but that is ALSO up to him. It amazes me when coaches say they don’t have the players. Well, guess who is responsible for recruiting good players? Anyhow, we saw the depths of Marshall and Mass. and the wins against St. Louis, Davidson, and though it was a loss, Dayton. I saw him “finally” get control of Hughes again as he knows what a nice kid and good player he can be...but like all of us, still needs to improve in some emotional areas.
Chapter 4
It’s up to you coach. You now have to get the kids motivated for LaSalle, not have a let-down like took place against Mass. and put yourself in a position to win every game (maybe except when we play at Dayton...sorry - I think they will be ready for us - their players and their coach is amazing.). Coach D. Has seen what his players can do at their peak, like Satalin would see when he recruited folks. You also have to be able to recruit higher level talent - this isn’t the MAC.
Chapter 5
This has been a year (so far) that I have really enjoyed. Going into every game knowing you have a chance to win is so much more fun than going into games and wondering how we will lose. Though there will still be ups and downs...so far...thanks Duquesne,...the glass is definitely half full. The fun is back, and I love being a DU basketball fan. Go Dukes!
