Can't lose more than 15 now. Next goal, single digit losses, something we haven't done since 1972-73 (16-8). Would need to lose no more than 2 games to clinch that. 34-5 has a nice ring to it. It would be NICE if Duquesne sent a bus or two to the game on Saturday and there were students sitting on them...again I ask...When was the last time we beat the Bonnies? It seems he always has our number... Indiana St. with a big blowout win over Loyola last night has sent their ranking way up. Result is that they are now a solid Q2 win for the Dukes. This is the type of thing you have to follow. SLU is now at 76, reducing last night's win to a Q2, and the win at home to a Q3. Need for them to finish in the top 75, which would make those Q1, and Q2 wins. Rhode Island has really risen lately. As a result, the loss there does no real damage. Richmond is also on a roll. We're getting the good separation in the league that we need to get multiple bids. Need for the upper half teams to keep dominating against the lower half. In regards to students, can a student who reads this forum chime in about any efforts on campus to drum up support? It seems he always has our number... I have seen on twitter there is a bus going(or at least there is one scheduled), free tickets to students and I think t-shirts. And national tv game. There will be 3 buses going to RMU on Saturday. The Crew will be distributing tickets during the week in the days leading up to it to encourage more people to use the bus and go 3 buses, nice! Hopefully this can be that game when the crowd is there, and the Dukes beat a team that could really impress and help gain new fans. Hopefully there is a nice walk-up crowd too. Last edited by phil95 (2/07/2020 9:19 am) I hate to say this, but I believe this is a MUST WIN For OUR FAN BASE. Dayton was nice but we lost. I could mention some other games but this one "should" have a lot of folks there, going against a team we haven't beaten for years, and trying to pull in the fans and get another win. It seems (to me) that we get so far, get many fans there, and then don't get over the mountain. This is another "different" opportunity to do that. I think it's very important for where we want to go this season. I'm not sure it means that much as far as attracting fans. Bona is a good team, but unlike Dayton, they create no buzz among the casual fan, and I'm skeptical as to whether many people are going to bother going way out to Bobby Mo for this game. I guess we'll find out. I view it more from the stance of improvement. They beat us twice n i think owned us. To get into that top quarter, we have to beat them now Vickroy - You are 100% - They have owned us. Let's see if Coach can OUT coach them. Even though he has also generally had more/better talent, Schmidt has gotten over consistently on the last 3 Duquesne coaches. Even with the lose to St. Bonaventure we are still in position to make the NIT. If you go by the NET rankings (why use anything else if that's what the committee actually uses) we would be the last team in the NIT. We're currently 87th. There are 16 conferences entirely below us, so they would get bids even though they are ranked lower. So as far as tournaments go we are essentially 103rd in line. 68 bids to the NCAA regardless of record, 32 bids to the NIT is 100. Three teams ahead of us have losing records though, and the NIT doesn't take teams with losing records. So we would be the last team in the NIT. There will be at least 10-12 mid/low majors where the first place team will be beaten in their conference tournament, sending them to the NIT. The last 4 years, there have been 15, 10, 12, and 10 auto bids to the NIT. Only a handful of those went to teams that would have gotten an at large bid anyway. That eats up quite a few spots. I actually like the rule, so I'm not complaining. What about the auto bids for the NIT? Like I said I'm simply using the NET rankings though, so I assume every team leading their conference will win the tournament. So in reality we are on the NIT bubble, but it's nice to think that even with some disappointing results recently we still have an opportunity.
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)

So maybe 50 students will go???
Big, huge game vs SBU. Play like last night and win it! Win it, get to 18 wins, and have a week off to rest, ice those injruies and let other teams beat each other. Then come back to action with Fordham and GW, 2 more winnable games. All essential.

Weathers and Carry are the key to the Duke’s success. Either is capable of a big offensive game, and Carry’s long range three shooting could be a problem. His range has been expanding recently and if he starts hitting from deep, it really opens things up for others, particularly Weathers. I am hoping Kyle can control Carry and Dom can do the same with Weathers. If those two can be kept in check, it will really be a challenge for the Dukes on offense. Hughes will be occupied trying to keep OO away from the hoop and he is not a great threat to score big. Beyond that, I don’t think they can match our depth. Staying out of foul trouble would be a huge plus for the Bonnies so we can take full advantage of our superior depth.Go Bonnies.
