Interesting night. The 6th thru 8th teams, all 7-5 play tonight. Last edited by MikeR (2/18/2020 9:00 pm) Well, well, well. Davidson blows a 20 point lead and St. Joe gets its first win. As our best win thus far, we should be pulling for St. Louis to win as much as possible. The short version is that the better they look the better we look for beating them. The longer version is that them losing is kind of like a double whammy for us. It hurts us in the NET rankings as you pointed out (we dropped four spots last night despite not playing), but it also could hurt us in the conference standings. It looks unlikely at this point, but any tiebreaking scenario we're part of and St. Louis is part of we have a big 2-0 against them. That likely puts us at the top of any such scenario. So although this seems very wrong to say, Go Billikens! Yeah, not good for our ratings, but just goes to show you there's no such thing as a bad win in this league. rating, schmatings. JUST WIN! Go 4-2 down the stretch, and get 1-2 wins in NY, at least. Remove all the doubts. rating, schmatings. JUST WIN! Go 4-2 down the stretch, and get 1-2 wins in NY, at least. Remove all the doubts. We are definitely on the NIT bubble, but even as a fan biased in the Dukes' favor, I have to say we're on the outside looking in. We're 90th in the NET rankings (both the NCAA committee and the NIT committee use the NET rankings as their aid in ranking teams). 100 teams make the NCAA or NIT, but all 32 conferences have to be represented. 14 conferences are entirely below us, so in effect we're 104th in line for a tournament bid. There are three teams ahead of us with losing records, and although the NIT no longer has a rule against teams with losing records, they have never taken one. So you could say we're 101st in line, but that still leaves us on the outside looking in. All of this assumes every single regular season champ also wins the conference tournament. Otherwise then regular season champ is guaranteed at least an NIT bid, which would push us even further down. On the bubble? For sure. In the NIT right now? Most likely not. rating, schmatings. We need to avoid being upset (GW, GM), and then hope Richmond stays in the top 75, so that a win over them counts as a quad 2 win. Would also help if St. Louis could finish in the top 75, which would give us a quad 1 win. We'd still probably need to beat one of our peers in Brooklyn to add another quad 2 win (top 100 on a neutral court, top 50 would be a quad 1)
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)

I saw someone had us as an 8 seed playing at Alabama in the NIT. So in someones eyes, we're sort of a NIT bubble team right now.
