I'd go to swim meets before a bball game if I was a student today. Last edited by townsonkid (2/20/2020 1:47 pm) I'd go to swim meets before a bball game if I was a student today. Doesn't surprise me. Me neither. Enjoy your swim. So, which comes first the chicken (attendance) or the egg (wins). Sorry, but the egg has to come first. When Pitt lost all of those basketball games their attendance was as abysmal as Duquesne's. When Dixon won, you couldn't get a seat. Now they are starting to win again and folks are "starting" to attend. Their football team sucks and their attendance has sucked for years. Look at one of Pitt's games on TV and it is all empty seats. Last edited by FAM (2/20/2020 9:16 pm) Hmmm ....The follow up question is - why didn’t you keep that same energy .... I'd go to swim meets before a bball game if I was a student today. Doesn't surprise me. Me, neither. With an attitude like that, no wonder no one shows up. I'd go to swim meets before a bball game if I was a student today. Doesn't surprise me. What's that supposed to mean? Nor me my friend. He is really out there. I made this point to start the season and by some on this board, shot down for pointing it out. This season was not going to be easy, no home court. Past two games lost by one bucket. All the extra travel and not being able to practice in the same court every night of the week that the games are played in is very likely taking a toll on this team this season. I think if they had won the last two games, then this team still would have had to make it to the tournament finals to get a bid, so at this point in the season, I think the Dukes have played well, and are close to a good season, but it still comes down to showing up for the tournament. Next year it will be more likely to win these close games and very likely the attendance will be up. Heck just being in a new area usually gives a team a bump in attendance. KD needs to keep a deep rotating these last few games to keep his starters fresh for the tourney. Then play well in the tourney. Can't give up on the team or the team give up. No doubt, you have to go to Dayton and play your asses off to get the win. A win and everyone forgets about GW. We get national exposure and the arrow is pointing up again. These are the games you live for as a player! No thought of quitting now! It would be different if we had 18 losses instead of 18 wins. This is a good team that needs to go out and kick some Dayton ass! Go Dukes! No doubt, you have to go to Dayton and play your asses off to get the win. A win and everyone forgets about GW. This is a good team that needs to go out and kick some Dayton ass! Go Dukes! It would be great, but not expected, nor does it really matter if we go to the tourney and one and out. At this point, and most team in D-1, it's how well we do in the tourney. This was a really tough year to not play on campus. But this team and the University is really, this time behind them, and they can show up down the stretch. Not this game, but the rest of the way. (Still, beating Dayton would be the show-stopper of the season.) Go Dukes.
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)

I understand frustration, but when there are 5 very important games left in the season and the A10 tournament yet to play, the last thing you want to hear from your coach is: "maybe we are not good enough".
1) It is bad when your fans give up on the team. This has come to be expected from DU fans, as the DU fanbase is the worst in the nation. Playing in an almost empty PPG arena in front of mostly old worn out fans too tired to stand, clap or shout, with almost no students willing to walk the one block from campus to support the team has to be demoralizing.
2) It is awful when the players give up on the team. This is unexpected but sometimes it happens. I hope this is not the case but it seems like some players are just going through the motions.
3) It is devastating when the coach gives up on the team. This should never happen. If the man in charge does not believe, motivate, and enforce his will to win you can pack it up. Let me clarify, I am not saying KD has given up on this team. I going to give him a pass and chalk up his comment to frustration. I do believe however he needs to look in the mirror and ask himself if he is doing his best job of coaching this team. He talked about the lack of juice from his players, well I am not feeling or seeing a lot of energy, or quite frankly good game day coaching from him. There are big games yet to be played. The season is not over. KD can let this team give up and fold like a cheap worn out tent, or KD can fire up these players and motivate and coach them to win and still have a successful season.

Now the Dukes - I went when they won and the place was rocking. I also have gone all these years and I watch them lose. I'm gonna say the biggest fan decline started with Nee. You could hear a pin drop. RE won, and the place was well attended. My issue (well I have lots of issues) of them not winning the big game when there are a lot of folks happened again this year, especially vs. Dayton. Yah, I know, they are #5.
Coach D, stop blowing the end of the year record, win more, and folks will come. You get paid a million dollars a year and have had more cooperation from a DU AD (and President) since Red Manning. I am glad you are here...but figure out why for the third year in a row, you start to fade. Go talk to someone, speak with the kids...figure it out. I'm frustrated too and I have been a Dukes fan a lot longer than you Coach D and I DO LUV YA!

“It was looking really good for us,” said forward Marcus Weathers, who scored 19 points. “We kind of died on the vine. We didn’t keep that same energy in the first half.”

Yes, the schedule the rest of the way has challenges but
Davidson led SJU by 21 in the first half, 19 at the half.
Lost by a point on a buzzer beater.
Talk about a tough loss.
So, the team practices hard and readies for Dayton
Dayton is undefeated which means they are closer to a loss.
A conference game. Close loss at home. Not probable but possible we do to Dayton
what GW did to us.
