A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

With Richmond, SLU, SBU, & (presumably) Dayton winning in the last 24 hours, where do the Dukes stand in terms of earning the double-bye?

Re: A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

I haven’t played this all out, but I believe...
Dukes must win; no other outcome will work.
And, Saint Louis must win.
Dukes get #4 seed.

I don’t think it matters whether Rhode Island wins or loses their last game vs UMass if the above takes place. A Bonnies win kills us in the tiebreaker.

Not 100% sure of this.

Re: A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

Dukes must win and Bona must lose to SLU to get the 4 seed. If rhody also happens to lose at UMass, then 3 seed.

If bonnies win, dukes get the 5 seed no matter what

If Dukes lose and SLU wins, dukes get the 6

Re: A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

Furthermore, if we are the 3, or 5 seed, we are paired with the Bonnies in every scenario (meaning that if whoever of the 2 does not get the double-bye wins on Thursday, then it's round 3 in Brooklyn on Friday)

If we are the 4 seed, we are paired with SLU

The 5 seed would play the winner of 12-13 first which would be one of La Salle, Mason, St. Joe's or Fordham

If we are the 6 seed then the 3 seed is either Rhody or SLU. The 6 seed plays the winner of the 11-14 matchup first which could be one of the aforementioned bottom 4 teams or George Washington as well

Nice graphic in this tweet showing what team gets the double bye depending on the outcome of 3 games.

I like that pic, added it to my phone.   DU needs to produce more content like that.

I really dont see a huge need to get the 4 seed.   Its a nice talking point, but pretty meaningless IMO, since Dayton would be in the 4/5 seeds bracket.

Re: A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

Seeds 1,2,7,8 & 9 have been set before today. After the 2 pm games the 12, 13 and 14 seeds are set.

Mason hangs on at Fordham and La Salle rallies to beat St Joe's.

Mason is 12th, Joe's are 13th and Fordham is 14th.

Assuming GW loses to Dayton, La Salle is 10th and GW is 11th.

Dukes seeding comes down to Bona/SLU. If Bona wins, Dukes are 5th while Bona is 4th. With a SLU win the Dukes are 6th. A SLU win and URI loss to UMass means SLU is the 3rd seed, a SLU win and URI win means URI is the 3rd seed, SLU 4, Bona 5, Dukes 6.

Re: A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

Took Dayton 30 minutes to shake GW, but they get the 18-0 season while GW falls to 11.

URI survives at UMass, winning by 1 after an iffy foul call on Tre Mitchell for UMass.
SLU hammers Bona.

Dukes are 6th, will play winner of GW-Fordham for last game of the night on Thursday. Winner will get 3 seed URI.

Re: A-10 Standings & Seeding Update

The Dukes have two games they absolutely can win against the GW/Fordham winner and then RI who really isn't the same team they played earlier up there in New England.

Id rather play Richmond again on a neutral court rather than Dayton or St. Louis to get to the championship game even though we beat St. Louis twice.  All three games are winnable and if the St. Louis knocks off Dayton as they almost did earlier, the Dukes have a shot.

But of course, one game at a time.
