Offline On official visit this weekend Offline On official visit this weekend I'm seeing a little Aaron Jackson in this kid. Offline That’s true, I like his strength and aggressiveness getting to the hoop and finishing through contact. It looks like he can apply pressure on defense, and handle the ball; also has good size for the position. Offline Signed with Duquesne. Offline This kid is a scoring machine. Through 3 games averaging 32 points. Last night he had 29 points, 15 rebounds and three steals. Offline Kid talks like Keith Dambrot and plays like Aaron Jackson. Not a bad combo. Offline Tyson is having a great year Offline Tyson scores 32 points to help his team win the Detroit PSL Title. One of the leading candidates for Michigan Mr. Basketball, Offline I'm no expert but Tyson looks like he's going to be a really good player for Duquesne. He is a complete player. You have to love what KD is doing with this program. The present is fun and the future is bright. Offline Tyson scores 32 points to help his team win the Detroit PSL Title. One of the leading candidates for Michigan Mr. Basketball, Here's the game story and a video from MLive: Offline CLK thank you for making this board great again.🐘🐘🐘 Offline Here's a link to Acuff's full Detroit PSL Championship highlights video... looks like he might have that killer instinct that few of our players (especially guards) seem to sustain at all times. Last edited by BluffHunter (2/25/2020 4:08 pm) Offline Congrats to Tyson and Coach Steve Hall for winning the City Championship! Great job by both guys leading a team of mostly underclassmen to a Championship. Tyson is going to be a great addition to the Dukes next year. Offline I'm guessing we will be able to see Tyson and Jett at Montour in the Roundball Classic which I believe is to be held April 15th. There is a thread on the Pitt board on the classic. Offline More good news on this guy. Offline As far as I can find, we've never signed a Mr. Basketball. I feel like there has to be some I'm missing, but I can't find any from any state. The only exception would be TDM who was Mr. Basketball in West Virginia, but of course he went to Akron first. It would be great to see him win it and be our first. Offline I'd also love to see Acuff get Michigan's top award but I don't think it will happen. It seems like those Mr. Basketball honors usually go a player who has committed or signed with a Power 5 conference team. Offline I'd also love to see Acuff get Michigan's top award but I don't think it will happen. It seems like those Mr. Basketball honors usually go a player who has committed or signed with a Power 5 conference team. And he is the only finalist not going to a "Power 6" school... a kid going to Kentucky didn't even get a nomination. Wisconsin, Butler, Northwestern, and Oregon are the destinations of the other finalists. Good company. Offline Tyson finished 5th in the voting. Offline Sorry he didn't win but the bright side is he may come in feeling disrespected. All fires need fuel! Last edited by phil95 (3/23/2020 1:39 pm) No surprise. I think we had a good idea of how the voting would go when the list of finalists was published. He was a co-favorite to win based on many reports I read and he finishes last? I am sure he is disappointed as we all are for him, but let's see how the basketball careers play out for these talented young men. My money's on Tyson Acuff. Offline Hard to argue with the selection of Scoobie Johnson when you look at his accomplishments over his 4-yr career. I'm sure his "lifetime" achievement had something to do with the award. Tyson had a great year, and took the team made up of underclassmen on his shoulders and carried them to the City Championship. Point totals over four years don't always tell the story since had to wait his turn to be "the guy". I'm excited to see him play a big role for the Dukes next season. Offline Final HS stats Offline Wow! Offline yup, we have been so caught up in the numbers game and who is in or might be in, we forgot about the prized piece. We need a scorer, and he looks like he can be one!!!!

Re: Tyson Acuff '20 PG
BTW, I noticed Scoobie played for Benton Harbor HS in MI. If I recall correctly former Duke Fitzgerald Bobo also played at Benton Harbor HS. Bobo was a part-time player on some pretty good Dukes teams in the mid-80s. He played with guys like Rick Suder, Collins Dobbs, Mark Beavers, and Duane Rawls, Jim Balog and others. We all know how good RIck Suder was, but Collins Dobbs was a terrific player as well. He averaged 14 points and nearly 5 rebounds per game as a freshman! After that, a torn ACLreally limited his development and hurt the Dukes under Jim Satalin over the next few years.

If KD didn't get this guy signed in the early period, I am not sure he would be becoming a Duke. His stock must surely have risen significantly with his play as a senior. I am very excited to have him coming.
All signs point to this being an excellent pickup to address an area of need. You have to applaud the ability to consistently identify & sign previously undervalued recruits. Bravo coaching staff!
