Very stiff competition.

Re: Grad Transfer - Jalen Tate

This is a confusing one. The all-defensive, all-tourney, & tourney MVP honors are really impressive. The 2pt shooting, steals, assists, assist/turnover ration, & experience are also notable.

I realize he shot quite well on more attempts as a junior but, 18.2% from 3 as a senior? Even with all that big-time interest, I am skeptical of his fit on a team that desperately needs knock-down shooting

I guess Steele worked out well as a 1-year player but he really addressed a particular need for big bodies with Kelly & Rotroff being questionable for the season while shooting 34.4% from 3 on significant volume.

Work that system KD!

A 6'6" wing player that hsot less than 20% from the 3-point range - I agree that seems like a bad fit for the Dukes.

Yeah, that 18.2 caught my eye as well. Our guys have been seen as needing improvement, and they all made around a third of their attempts. That said, the 3 is not really his game. He only took about 2 per game. He's a 2 point guy, and at 55.6%, he gets the job done inside the arc. The only concern is that he'd likely send Maceo to the bench, and I'd worry about what the outcome of that might be.

Again, this is a guy who takes 4 out of 5 shots inside the arc. With such a high shooting percentage, it's pretty obvious even without seeing him, that he's a player who gets to the rim, and can finish. I'll gladly take him.

Re: Grad Transfer - Jalen Tate

Interesting that the Rothstein tweet seems to be deleted, and also this quot“Honestly, I am looking for a place where I would have an opportunity to play at point guard a lot of the time. “Also, I want to go to a team that has pieces around me that can put me in a position to make them look good, and for them to complement me and make me look good. Maybe the most important thing, though, is I want to compete for championships. That can mean a league title, but also a place where we could make noise in the NCAA Tournament.”

If he were to come here I'm not sure how much Dambrot would want him at the point, but his stats definitely indicate somebody that would be a great contributor to the squad.

Re: Grad Transfer - Jalen Tate

Another name just up on the portal. Brandon Johnson from W, Mich. He averaged 15 and 8 as a 6'8" pf. I'm just guessing he is someone coach would check into being he played high school ball in Michigan.

Re: Grad Transfer - Jalen Tate

The staff probably recruited him before. Also, Steele could probably have some influence.
