Offline The league starts next Monday the 24th. Looking forward to the reports from Steve and others who attend. Offline The roster and schedule should be up soon, however according to Chris Harlan the following players have registered to play. Offline Would have like to see Watkins, White, and Mason play. Offline Would have like to see Watkins, White, and Mason play. and McCoy. Offline I knew I missed someone. Unless Datt is hurt again, he should play too. Offline Roster Offline Won't be able to get to Greentree until the 2nd week. If anyone going next week could add our players jersey numbers to your reports it would be appreciated. Sometimes it takes me a couple of trips before I figure out who the new Duke are. Offline I'm going Monday WashPa, though won't be able to make it Wednesday. I'll try my best to remember the numbers (hopefully I'll remember to bring pencil and paper and write them down) and try to add them to a writeup of my observations. Last edited by rogabee (6/22/2013 9:43 pm) Offline Be interested especially in the play of the big men (Robinson, Lewis, Soko). They will play a huge role this year. Be curius about Ridenour, too. I know Dayton recruited him. Is he a 1? A 2? A combo? Offline I'm going Monday WashPa, though won't be able to make it Wednesday. Offline You won't see Micah Mason due to his hip surgery. Offline Some stats from last night from the Pitt Rivals site. Offline Post-Gazette ran a story by Pitt-apaldo. NBP (Nothing But Pitt). Post-Gazette ran a story by Pitt-apaldo. NBP (Nothing But Pitt). Easy--the same excuse they'll use this year when the ACC slaps Pitt around--Dixon is short on scholarship players and has such a young team blah, blah, puke and gag. Offline This is why I rail about our current place in the city. It's not about me bashing Duquesne, it's about wanting the Dukes to maul Pitt and Bobby Mo so these clowns have to reconsider what they should be writing about. Offline Only one DU team played last night. Did anyone attend? Below is from the Pitt board. Last edited by CLK (6/27/2013 5:47 am) Offline So far Colter, Gill, and Soko are the only three DU players we've heard about. Gill doesn't sound afraid to take a big shot. Might be a nice late add for us. Offline TraVaughn White scores 30 points in his first summer league game. Sounds like he is the score we heard he was. Steve has a nice summary on his blog. Here is an article with stats from the Pitt Rivals site. Offline Pitt Rivals article from last nights games Offline From the Pitt Rivals site. Offline Ouch ... two big men left with injuries. Hope nothing serious. Offline From the Pitt Rivals site. The Pitt guys have been impressed with Ovie all summer. Offline Ouch ... two big men left with injuries. Hope nothing serious. Lewis had a cut by his eye but came back in the game. Robinson left the game early and iced his knee the rest of the game. Was told he banged knees with someone and should be O.K. Offline Liked what I saw from Gill, White and Ridenour. Gill and Robinson both have some meat on their bones something we've been lacking. Lewis is a big one and looks to have some potential to me. Offline For whatever it is worth to our board viewers, here was my assessment of L.G. Gill I posted on Yuku after watching him for 5 games at Greentree:

The Lair 87, GNC 86
With 20 seconds left in the night's final game and The Lair down by three, Duquesne's L.G. Gill converted a four-point play to win the nightcap.
After Duquesne's Derrick Colter hit a pair of free throws to put GNC up three points. The Lair pushed the ball up the floor frantically looking for an opportunity to tie the game.
Gill got the ball out past the left wing and launched an ill-advised three toward the basket as Robert Morris guard Karvel Anderson made contact with the body. The 6-foot-6 Gill stepped to the line, knocked down the free throw and put his team up for good.
GNC would get one more opportunity at the other end, but Colter's pull up three-pointer didn't fall.
Duquesne's Ovie Soko led The Lair with 22 points including an and-one conversion with 27 seconds left to pull his team within three. Gill and Clarion's Aaron Johnson each chipped in 16 points.
Despite committing the decisive foul, Anderson led GNC with 23 points. Colter finished with the games only double-double, netting 10 points and dishing out 10 assists in the loss •Thread Starter

I would love to see the Dukes bury them this year. I wonder what those deucebags would write about if THAT happened.

SPK 80 GNC 79
For a second night in a row, the final game of the night was decided by a single point, as SPK Law held off GNC 80-79.
Lamar Patterson led five SPK players in double-figures, with 20 points. Joining him was Shawn Amiker (Youngstown State) with 15, Pitt's Mike Lecak and Mike Young with 11 apiece, and Jeremiah Worthen (Robert Morris) with 10.
Young also had a team-high eight rebounds, giving him an average of nine rebounds per game through the first two. Despite his efforts, SPK was outrebounded 33-32.
Karvel Anderson (Robert Morris) led the way, in a losing effort with 22 points Derrick Colter had 17 points. •Thread Starter

A Dirty Harry line goes "A man has just got to know his limitations." That seems to fit Gill's demeanor on the floor. His shot selection leaves nothing to be desired. He forces nothing. Nice release of the ball no matter where he shoots from. Even his missed shots look good! Good foul shooter. He is a strong kid. Sneaky quick speed. He has excellent court awareness. Tough to judge his overal defense because of the absence of team defense in the league. But he seemed to handle the 2,3 or 4 match-ups without any major difficulty. I see him as a true 3 player who can go up to a 2 shooting guard or down low to help at the 4 power spot. Finally, he has that something about him akin to a shark in the water who smells blood and attacks. He gives Coach Ferry multiple use options
