Duquesne great Jim Tucker passed away on May 15th. There is a link in the Duquesne basketball tweet to the short film on Jim; well worth watching. Thanks very much for posting these links. It's one of the most touching documentaries that you will see. So many connections - classmate of Sid Dambrot, first African-American player along with Earl Lloyd (who was drafted in the same year after Chuck Cooper was selected by the Celtics) to win an NBA championship, etc. Thanks man... Awesome documentary. I learned a lot. I always thought Chuck Cooper was the first African American NBA BB player...the documentary said Lloyd. I presume there was more than one at the same time? This opened the door for Earl Lloyd being drafted as the 100th pick, 9th round. Lloyd became the first African American to play in the NBA on October 31, 1950, one day before Cooper made his debut.
