And the program is on pause. Last edited by VBC (12/12/2020 2:48 pm) When Pitino suggested a while back that the season start a good bit later, I thought that sounded about right. The current state of affairs is crap & getting worse each day. I don’t know if I am 100% on board with your whole proposal, Phil, but I sure think you are on the right track. This season is a total farce. The Bonnies and Fordham still have not played and had games cancelled today. I don’t have a better idea at this point so put me in Phil’s column!! ugh. When Pitino suggested a while back that the season start a good bit later, I thought that sounded about right. The current state of affairs is crap & getting worse each day. Bubble won't even be needed by May. When Pitino suggested a while back that the season start a good bit later, I thought that sounded about right. So the way I read this article it is possible that the Dukes may play Bowling Green and Winthrop next week in Pittsburgh, and reschedule Richmond for later in the season. This could still have a positive (no pun intended) outcome for DU. Hope it works out. This virus is relentless and is always lurking ready around the corner for a few more months. Pitino was right, the season should have been pushed back and the NCAA should have went with May Madness!! However we are where we are and my question is are we really observing all the safeguards we can? I only raise this issue as I believe this is our third hit with the Covid threat since October - even before the season started. So I think it is fair to ask are we as a staff and roster being disciplined enough in our approach to avoid COVID? I know it is all a roll of the dice, but 3 separate occasions of Covid raises an eyebrow. This season looks more and more to be a train wreck and I am definitely becoming entrenched in the Pitino/Phil95 camp. Guess who is taking our place in Indy playing Loyola? Richmond. That's a kick in the gut. Unfortunately, I can't imagine that college athletes are on anyone's priority list for the vaccine. First responders, hospital patients, health care professionals, people over 65, people with illnesses that would certainly kill them if they got Covid-19 (my first cousin had a double-lung transplant. Her doctors told her that if she got the virus she was dead. And they were that blunt). Plus, the govamint only ordered 100 million doses from Pfizer. So Pfizer then started marketing to other countries. And remember 100 million doses means 50 million people get it (two doses per person). U.S. population is estimated to be 331 million. So that's 15% of the population give or take. Infants, anti-vaxers will make more available, so hard to tell the real numbers but it's not encouraging. Responsibility does not resonate with the men’s basketball program. Inexcusable. Women’s program gets it. WTF. COVID IS BAD NEWS BUT RESPONSIBILITY IS CRUCIAL. Very disappointed. Considering our high expectations, this has all been so disappointing. I'm all for a pause. Guess who is taking our place in Indy playing Loyola? Richmond. That's a kick in the gut. I was watching the Richmond / WVU game and I heard the announcer state that Duquesne's game with Richmond was canceled and that is why Richmond moved to play Loyola in Indy??? I was watching the Richmond / WVU game and I heard the announcer state that Duquesne's game with Richmond was canceled and that is why Richmond moved to play Loyola in Indy??? Today in the PG sports under college BB today paper has Duquesne at Indy. In the weekly local column Duquesne vs. Richmond. Wow the PG sport editor really on top of Duquesne basketball. Zero coverage. Lazy sports coverage. Time to cancel e subscription. Right now, the Duquesne and Richmond websites show the A10 game is on for the 19th. But, the Loyola site shows a TBA game time on the 18th with Richmond in Indianapolis. I doubt the Spiders are going to play the Ramblers on the 18th and then play us the following day. What is the real state of the schedule? Last edited by indygjm (12/14/2020 9:01 am) Dambrot clearly states in the Trib that he “hopes” to resume workouts Sunday the 20th. That should leave no doubt that there are no games between now and then. More schools “pausing” and more games cancelled every day. How long the NCAA and/or conferences intend to prolong this farce called a basketball season is anyone’s guess. This nonsense needs curtailed - probably at least until March when conference play only can hopefully take place. Loyola looks to be replacing the Dukes with a game at Wisconsin that was hurriedly scheduled. Right now, the Duquesne and Richmond websites show the A10 game is on for the 19th. What is the real state of the schedule? There is no schedule, IMO. It will be pop-up games unless the NCAA stops this madness now, regroups, comes up with a plan for a season that starts in spring of 2021. Last edited by townsonkid (12/14/2020 6:39 pm) I think practicing over at a student rec center with many students using the building and the inadquate offices Welcome to the 'cancel culture' Good observation by Stew, if true. I do know the bookstore has been open but not sure about classes, virtual or in person. But, Dambrot probably thinks he's cursed with this timing. What a damn shame Just to be clear, classes ended November 24, the students were sent home for Thanksgiving, then they took their finals remotely. Finals ended last Thursday December 10. Students won't be back on campus until the start of the spring '21 semester on January 21. Most colleges and universities are following a similar schedule because of the pandemic. So the athletes have had the basketball practice facilities to themselves for the last three weeks, or since returning from Louisville. Right, I think it was pretty clear that the Duquesne “family” picked up Covid in the Louisville tournament and the’ve just been passing it around within the group ever since. The whole thing sucks, seeing those other top A10 teams scores scroll in last night was upsetting, even though one lost to Charlotte. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets this year and our team can start A10 play soon and not miss another game. Little Rock's game last night was canceled/postponed. They, too, must have gotten the virus in Louisville.
CURRENT RECORD 9 - 14 (4-6 in the A-10)

Now, I would happily embrace a 7-week moratorium followed by a conference-only schedule featuring a series of 4 team MTEs. That could be followed by a 1-week quarantine before the beginning of a 96 team May Madness bubble with no travel between rounds.

and practice gym have created a mess in keeping players and coaches safe.
The only hope for Duquesne is that the NCAA will shut season down for a couple months and try starting again
in February or March. The NCAA wont do it ,so this season ends up a disaster for Duquesne.Games throughout
season will be cancelled. It is a shame.
