He is on Pitt's radar now and if they offer he left little doubt he would want to play there.  This is what he said in a recent Rivals article:

Luther.

"I have talked to Coach Barton a few times," Luther told Panther-Lair.com. "Just a few calls and texts, not that much. They just said that they would watch me."

Luther doesn't have any visit plans at the moment but will look into that after this month. He did say that he would like to visit Pitt if the opportunity presents itself. He does not have a timetable for a decision but if Pitt were to increase its attention, the Panthers could move to the top of his list, which includes offers from Dayton, Duquesne, George Washington, New Hampshire, Virginia Tech, Bucknell, Iowa, and William & Mary.

"Obviously Pitt is one of the most successful programs in the country. They make the tournament every year and joining the ACC is going to be awesome. I am a Pitt fan and always rooted for them when I was younger.

"If they showed more interest and were to offer, it would mean so much. Living just outside of the city and being so close to Pitt, I was always a fan. Especially with this move to the ACC, it would be even more special to play in your hometown."

Maybe they'll pull a Sean Miller. Let him sign at Duquesne and steal him after he proves he can play.

I trust Ferry's judgment. I think he'll know if he's being played in favor of Pitt and he'll turn his attention elsewhere. I want players here who hate pale blue and yellow. I like the fact that Ovie Soko didn't take crap from any of the elbow-tossing geeks and I hope every Duke has the date of the Pitt game circled on his calendar.

My question: Regardless of potential, why would I want someone on my team who has make it publically clear that his dream is to play for another team?
 

40 years ago, there were several local kids who had to settle for playing for the second banana team in their town, as opposed to the long time powerhouse program they grew up dreaming of playing for. Among those players were Billy Knight, Jim Bolla, and Mickey Martin, who led Pitt to one of the greatest seasons in Pitt history, and ended Duquesne's 30 year run as the unquestioned top dog in Pittsburgh. The fact that they grew up as Dukes fans meant nothing in the long run. If Pitt doesn't offer, and this Luther kid ends up being a Duke, he will burn to beat Pitt, and show them the mistake they made. You guys may not like it, but pretty much all the local prepsters are fans of Pitt. Most like Duquesne too, but we really haven't given anyone a reason to make us their primary rooting interest in the last 30 years. You used to have to choose. Love one, hate the other. Hell, most local Pitt fans would like to see us do better. That's how little of a threat they see us as. Kind of like how most of us viewed Bobby Mo, until they started kicking our arse on a regular basis.
