Offline 6:00pm EST tip on Wednesday 01/20/2021 at the La Roche University Kerr Fitness Center, Pittsburgh, PA Offline Coach D interview 1/19: Offline KD couldn't have a better attitude when dealing with adversity of any kind. Teams will run into speed bumps or road blocks along the way just as we all do. There is a positivity and resiliency which KD exhibits that I truly wish I could manifest more often in dealing with day to day problems in my work place and elsewhere. I am constantly reminded that our basketball program is in the best of hands. Offline Looks like fouls and foul shooting will play a big part in this one. They are among the best in the country at getting to the line and among the worst in the country at sending opponents to the line. The added length with the personnel changes will help defensively, but we need to continue to stay disciplined and play sound team defense. Not only do they get to the line a lot, their best scorers all shoot really well from there. Offline so for 2 hrs we get to hear how great Fatts Russell is, grrrreat! Last edited by townsonkid (1/20/2021 12:27 pm) Offline Lucky... as a diehard fan... if the game is that close I will be pleased. I’m worried about them getting blown out. I just don’t think we match up with them this year. Offline Not too certain that we have a go to guy of the quality of Fatts Russell. When the going gets tough, Russell will be there with some big buckets and I honestly believe that could make the difference in this game. Sometimes it's just that simple. Hoping we bring the same defense we've seen in the last couple of games. We are due to have a decent shooting night. That would be just what the doctor ordered! Lets get'em. Offline The Dukes need some scoring punch from Acuff Offline Virtual program for tonight's game: Offline 2 out of the last 3 Duq/URI games went down to the final possession. Honestly I'm pretty excited for the game. Offline Rhody offense lookin good. Offline Another good game, for 10 minutes. Now, not so much. Offline Put the CYO lineup in and got outscored 12-0. Offline Baker hot from 3 is the only reason we're within 10. Need other people to get going now. Offline Weathers should be driving to hoop everytime he touches the ball and strong. Offline Weathers should be driving to hoop everytime he touches the ball and strong. agreed. Get him going before the half and get this within 5. I'm hoping to keep it under 20 Nothing good has happened after I commented this. Nothing. Except for the announcer comparing that play to TJ Oshie last night. Offline Is Hughes in foul trouble? Offline Is Hughes in foul trouble? ESPN says he has 2 fouls Offline We need ANYONE to be able to drive into the lane, then guys like weathers, hughes, harris and kelly become scoring threats. Baker, okani, murphy, tdm can spot up for 3. Or acuff can finish it himself. All that pissing around 25’ from the basket is worthless. Offline Rhody usually good 2nd half team and the Dukes usually come out slow. Time for both to change. Offline 2 out of the last 3 Duq/URI games went down to the final possession. Honestly I'm pretty excited for the game. Rhode Island smoked us last year, over 20 Offline Baker starting to look like Battle from GW. Offline These refs blow. Where was the tech on Baker there? Throw a chair Dambrot. Have your teams back.

Offensively we need to be aggressive and not settle for deep shots. The guards need to use their athleticism to get to the hoop and the big men need to play like big men. Mike and Marcus can pound with anyone, they shouldn't be setting up 20 feet from the hoop. There's no time like the present to get back to Dambrot's preferred inside out offense. After that, if they are willing to give up fouls instead of good looks we need to be able to exploit that by knocking down the foul shots.
When URI makes more foul shots than their opponent, they are 7-0. When they don't they are 0-7. It doesn't get much more definitive than that. Given the way we've shot so far and how we've played against them in the past, I'm not as optimistic as some others on the board seem to be about this matchup. I hope I'm wrong, but I'll say Rhode Island 70 Duquesne 62.
