Good luck to him and his soon to be assistant brother. Also, Eric Williams will be on National TV tonight... Oregon!!!

Bad time to lose your top assistant; especially when he’s been a primary recruiter. Who would fill his role in recruiting?

I agree Levon, the timing of this is certainly a concern. Would KD have had a heads up about this possibility given CT's connection to EMU? In any event we all know this is a critical recruiting cycle for KD so the question is who is now the primary recruiter at this important juncture of the recruiting cycle? If CT does leave I'm guessing his brother will probably follow and If I am KD I want someone added to my staff that can open up a new recruiting pipeline and can also bring a player or two with him this year. Fingers crossed.

I looked at EMU basketball board and they are lukewarm about prospects of Thomas becoming head coach.
He seems like a good choice to be their coach and likely his brother leaves also. Dambrot needs to move
very quickly as the Thomas brothers appear to be headed to EMU. The head job pays 350,000 dollars. It is
very concerning in retaining current players. The transfer situation is so unstable .

Maybe its another positive for Duquesne basketball having a assistant coach taking a head coaching job
at another Division 1 school.I dont think that has ever happened at Duquesne.Trying to put a positive spin
on this.

Hard to wrap my head around why it's so difficult to get recruits or transfers especially with the new beautiful fieldhouse. You'd think recruits would jump at the opportunity. Perhaps other coaches/programs are giving the Dukes a bad wrap. You'd think Parham, would have jumped at the opportunity and even Butler who is a local product. IDK just so dang frustrating.

I feel your pain; Ray perhaps the stigma of not winning the A-10 or going to the NCAA Tourney in 43 years gives our opponents ammunition to use against us in recruiting. The new facility should help make us more competitive when players can visit; but right now it’s all being done via zoom; so the positive effect of the new facility may take a while to manifest itself.
It’s really just selling players on the fact that we can’t control what happened in the past; but with more wins lately we are no longer a bottom-feeder in the A-10; and with the addition of better talent we can reach the top of the league. It’s just selling the entire package, coaching, new facilities, great city, and respected university!

Give Dambrot some credit here. He needs his guys to advance. Two of his former assistants are now head coaches with their teams in this years tournament (Texas and Ohio). And to think that Dambrot isn't aware of the EMU possiblity is insulting. He was an assistant coach at EMU for God's sake.. His wife attended EMU. Good luck to Charles to get the Ypsilanti job.

Chill out 330, my comment is not an accusation, just asking the question expecting that this wouldn't be a surprise to KD and therefor he would be prepared for this possibility.

OK PistolPete....If you assume this wasn't a surprise and that KD was prepared for this possibility why are you fingers crossed?
Do you want Chuck to get the EMU job or are you wishing he loses the opportunity and stays at Duquesne?
And what do you mean by I should Chill Out? I am not chilling. I'm getting involved. I am writing emails to the EMU AD encouraging the hiring of Chuck. He, his wife and kids deserve the opportunity.

ICYMI - Stan Heath was named head coach of Eastern Michigan last week. Stan’s an EMU grad and had previous head coaching success in the MAC at Kent State. He also was the head coach at Arkansas and South Florida.

Too bad. This was a perfect opportunity for him. I was pulling for Charles to get this job.

Really too bad for him. Would have been a great step up. His time will come.

EMU would have been a perfect fit for Charles and his brother. Glad he got the exposure and hope the next opportunity works in his favor. Go Chuck.
